2026 Novice Hurdlers

Laurets D'estruval declared 2m Thursday too for Paul

Was 2nd beaten 4 1/2L behind Starting Fifteen (who was beaten 10L in the Tatts Nov Hdle this weekend)

Could be one that improves greatly from his Xmas run when plenty weren't firing.

I like this one, for the future, not sure he'll end up at Cheltenham though.

Reckon he'll be in the Djakadam mould, myself.

Yeah that Lovely Guy form is working alright to say the least

He's turned into a proper one in FR.

Another Lovely to get on the radar here too 🔜

I'm surprised Kazansky (16/1 NRNB or 20/1 AP) & Love Me Tender (40/1 NRNB or 100/1 AP) are the prices they are for the Albert Bartlett, for a race run yesterday that has a solid Bartlett record.

Stolen from @Saxon Warrior fantastic work, the Nathaniel Lacy in the past 5 years has produced the following Albert Bartlett results:

1st - 3
2nd - 1
3rd - 1
4th - 1

In them past 5 years no winner of the Nathaniel Lacy has doubled up at the festival, closest was Minella Cocooner who won the NL & finished 2nd in the Bartlett.

Willie has gone both ways with his winners of the NL, and if you are of the belief that Doctor Steinberg goes to the Turners then I think the two mentioned above should be covered for the Bartlett.

Needless to say I've covered both at NRNB & AP prices now.
Kazansky was one I took from the race who may turn round the form with the extra distance and new course as well.

If Doctor Steinberg goes turners his price will be cut no doubt.

Is it me, or are those RPR’s for the 2m novice hurdle on Sunday a bit low (even with the slow pace)?

Interesting to see if those get changed at all over the next few days. I’m surprised it hasn’t been rated at least on a par with the Christmas race at Leop.
Blanket finish probably why.

I think they'll get the tipex out at some point

Fairly sizeable bet this morning on Mighty Park for the Supreme on BFX (225ish)

There must be every chance Proactif runs in the supreme now. Since he was entered Narciso won the best triumph trial with ease and the new course should suit him even more. JP doesn't have a supreme horse, that is if Mighty Park is aimed at the turners. Mullins doesn't appear to have an obvious supreme contender either. You'd probably like to see Proactif run again to earn a supreme ticket

I know the ol' 'JP makes the decisions' etc

But has Willie ever sent a juvenile to the Supreme

Testing a horse that has only had 2 career starts to date in what could be a strong enough renewal seems daft to me, personally can't see that he will. I'd say JP be happy to have 2 strong darts for the Friday opener

Worth a read of Franks' comments post race also

“He’s a grand, big horse. Mark said he jumped well but was still a little bit green sometimes in front,” said Frank Berry, racing manager to McManus.

“He galloped and jumped, we’re very happy with him.

“Knowing Willie, it (the Dublin Racing Festival) will probably be a bit soon. He’s had a run in France and learned a little bit today. You could only be happy with him.

“He stays and jumps, he looks the ideal type (for the Triumph Hurdle). Touch wood he stays in one piece.

“I thought they were going to get to him going to the last but in fairness he got to the line well.”

Ye it would be a big ask with his experience but why would he have entered him in the supreme if they weren't going to consider it. It doesn't seem that JP is as flippant with his entries as Mullins would be.

Think you need to half it for bet size.

Betfair used to combine the stake and lay amount into one total. I'm assuming they still do. So a £100 bet will show as £200 matched.

It's still a decent size bet for a horse that looked likely to run in a different race.

I suppose it is an option isn't it, just don't think they'll end up going that way myself.

There's nothing to say Proactif isn't better than Narciso Has at the moment.

If they feel Selma could overturn the form from yesterdays race they may go double handed and hope Proactif can improve beyond NH.

Yeah, but he had already had 7 runs by the time the Supreme come around, and they ended up coming away with fuck all in terms of Supreme/triumph winners (RIP Sir Erec)

Went to Aintree and looked all over the winner against Pentland Hills in a great tussle, not sure he wanted it...

….coincidentally, posted something very similar about that race in the January Yankee thread this morning. Already have Kazansky in my book but will have some of the 40-1 LMT NRNB (y)
