more likely to go for the bartlett. I think.
tried to get on at 40s yesterday but missed it.

Could run here though if they want him to have his prep over fences, and the weights for national are out before this race.
 
Whenever you know a horses aim is the National it always puts me off.

Hasn't stopped Tiger Roll though :highly_amused:




Not sure if it's been posted (might have been), but Vintage Clouds won't be going to Aintree, his long term target is the Scottish Grand National...

Might make him more likely to run in the Ultima? Might mean they try and drop his mark though :dejection:
 
Backed Ramses for bartlett at 33's.
Think he'd be highest rated going into the bartlett (or very close to it)
He battered champagne well, who is a decent stick.
He'll get tipped up too, if they confirm they intent to run.

I hadn’t even registered that he was a novice over hurdles. If it transpires that the Bartlett is his destination the this has got me be one of the most unusual targeting of races I have ever seen. From PtP to Novice Hurdling to Handicap Hurdles to Novice Chasing to Handicap Chasing and then back to Novice Hurdling. How unusual.

Won well in the end but he definitely interfered with the runner up, probably not sufficient to affect the result but we have no way of knowing if the horse got intimidated and held back, it has happened.

But I agree the winner will be a very interesting contender if lining up in the potato race, a race we know you need to be battle hardened and the more experience the better....

“He’s very versatile. If anything he jumps a fence better than he jumps a hurdle, but he’s so quick from one side of an obstacle to the other,” said the jockey.

“He’s gone and won a Grade Two novice hurdle and at the beginning of the season all roads led to Aintree and he’s picked up two novice hurdles on the way. There’s no reason why we can’t pick up a few more.”

Speaking from Cheltenham, Pipe said: “It was a good performance. We had his wind done and he got taken on a long way out by Thomas Macdonagh and fought him off.

“Then I thought Champagne Well was going to come and do him. He is a good horse on his day. The plan was to go chasing again next, but we will speak to the owners and see. He was going away again at the line.

“He is a good horse and he has shown that when his wind allows him to. He is still only eight and it feels like he has been around for years.

“The Grand National Trial was what we were thinking of – he finished second last year, but we will see.”

That was the full convo where i quoted it from. Trainers give more than one interview.

coming here ?? , last year there was a nice gap in between races , 23 days this year.

It's a good point.
 
I think this year it will have a big impact especially if there is a lot of rain in the build up. The past 3 festivals have been genuinely soft on the Tuesday and 23 day is a short turn around. It was nice to find out that The conditional tested and got found out with his stamina in his last race at Warwick as you can be confident he won’t be scratched from this race because of later races like the GN.

I was on Copperhead last time and the way he jumped and travelled just screamed graded horse in a handicap to me and if he turned up in a handicap at Cheltenham, I’d happily get stuck in. He’d be a backable price if rocking up here too.

Backed him for this now at 10s NRNB

I could see him in an RSA but if not.. send him here. Think his jumping and his ability to travel through his races and gallop relentlessly would be absolutely perfect for the Ultima. Couldn’t think of a race that would suit more than an Ultima.

Worth noting he is 11s any race NRNB Skybet I’ve just seen.

I’d fancy him less in an RSA but still enough if he was a bigger price than 11s. 10/1 NRNB for the Ultima is better for those who fancy him but aren’t sure he goes there.
