Ultima Handicap Chase 2020

Been waiting for a bigger price on Activial .... doesn't look like it's coming though, I'll take 28/1 (6 places) now. BOG I suppose too.

Likewise, I cashed out earlier because I sensed a drift but nothing much seems to be happening does it

Things will hot up before the race I suppose, people are focussing on the first two races first.

Saving my day :D

Yeh Mister Malarky's chances have diminished. Kildisart backers must be worried too.

Will probably play The Conditional when I get down there

And another. Boom. Today paid for

I don’t think I’ve ever had a 1,2,3 before and been gutted

...regardless, I went to Garrison Savannah a few years ago with my son. It was a racing experience.

Kildisart so close for me today.

handicapper and FJ both did good.

Enjoyed watching this one back. It's a cracking race ante post to work one out for. I'm not doing how I did personally in these posts as I'll do that on my own diary but still worth giving a nod to thorne365 again who highlighted the 25/1 special on The Conditional and Big River both to place.

Cepage is an absolutely classic case of a horse not staying. I wanted him in the Festival Plate over 2m5f, as did many others. Hopefully he slips down the handicap but he's 9 next season and I'd definitely fancy him in the plate. He may well win a nice big Cheltenham race at some stage during the season though too. He's the main take out of the race for me. Jumped well again. Really grown a soft spot for this horse.

The winner, The Conditional was just so well handicapped. The mistake he made should have ended his race, and he's just jogged back up to them and was unlikely to ever get headed! Where he goes next will be interesting, and what mark he ends up on. I doubt he'll make it into a Gold Cup horse but if he was completely dismissed he may make it onto my radar. Bookies have priced Vinndication up at 50/1 for the Gold Cup, which wouldn't tempt me. I think the level he ran to, is his level. He's a very good horse and I really like him.

Discorama placed again. He's not been missed on the forum and some very good cases made for him. Bit of a bridesmaid now and price will dictate whether I back him again (probably will) but not now.

Can't not mention Kildisart either. He's back to a mark of 155 after his efforts, so will need to be campaigned to bring that down if he's to go one better next year. I'll watch his mark with interest as he's 100% on the shortlist for this race next year again.

Discorama and Big River were the only two horses to feature that weren't prominent. Both had previous festival form. I like the angle of a prominent runner in the Ultima (I do in most races, but big field handicaps especially).
