Supreme Novices Hurdle 2020

15 seconds above standard in heavy is very good first time out

Aye, it could be.

I don't expect (and hope) heavy ground form isn't really relevant come 1:30 on the Tuesday though :highly_amused:

Shishkin was a hype horse, people are going to defend him whatever I said.

Nico riding him right to the line might have just been as it was his first completed start? Giving him a decent blowout?

Same with any sport imo no fitness like match fitness. With him falling previously running out of time to get (completed) runs into him, surely one more run up in grade if possible?

He did settle a lot better and jumped well imo.

Suppose we will need to wait and see on next entry

Aye, could have been... he might end up really good...

I was just making the point the winning margin, in heavy ground, might be a bit over played as it wasn't worth the actual distance IMO

Handicap was won in 2 seconds slower by a 120 rated horse carrying 9lbs more eased down.
The time wasn't all that.

Yeah fair enough it does pay to analyse these things when all the info is from the day.

Absolutely Kev the confirmation bias in full swing this time of year!!

Yeah get that view as well mate.

As you said, maybe watching it a second time and taking all into perspective, it’s possibly not as impressive as the visual display showed. And 100% agree and hope no heavy in the description that week in March :encouragement:

Not sure if any of you follow Graeme North's pacemaps, they are interesting even if just to see an overall picture of the pace of a race. Shishkins final 3 hurdles was pretty taking.

Do you have a link please Jack?

Thought shishkin looked good today....with the owner having asterion forlonge and the big getaway, will all 3 get split? Or is the owner known to have run 2 or more live chances in a race?.....I can’t find an occasion where they have.

It sounds like both hendo and wille both want to step up in trip, I wonder who will get their way

I suspect they’ll split them. I personally think it’ll be Shishkin here, Asterion Ballymore and Big Getaway AB. They won’t want to throw 2 in vs Envoi Allen and I’d personally fancy Asterion Forlonge to give Envoi more of a race. Only spanner is Asterion could also end up in the Bartlett

Sidney Banks hurdle over 2 1/2 miles at Huntingdon next for Shiskin

2 miles 3 furlongs and 137 yards

Still think it’s 75/25 in favour of this for Shiskin. Also can’t wait to Chantry house at Cheltenham trials day I believe was mentioned for him

I'm at Trials day so that'll be good.

They are being kept apart supposedly. Not sure how much of that I believe. Probably too early to call which one is better, but Shishkin certainly looks more suited to this race. Time will tell, wouldn't be at all surprised if both ran here.

If Asterion Forlonge could jump straight, i'd prefer he came here and raced like a lot of Mullins runners do- from the front. Shishkin ran like a perfect Ballymore horse yesterday i thought.

Obviously a big IF on jumping straight. If he has a preference to jump right, no hope AF wins a Supreme

Mullins bingo again, Klassical dream was running in the ballymore until even a week before the festival. So wouldn’t rule out the possibility of AF here but I’d much prefer seeing Shiskin here
