Supreme Novices Hurdle 2020

The bookies finally seem to be calming down on the Envoi/Abracadabras Supreme/Ballymore debate. Looks like Envoi in the Ballymore and Abracadabras in the Supreme. Only looked at Sky bet and Bet 365 but the odds on those certainly imply as much. Abracadabras not even listed in the Ballymore on 365....
 
You'll get some sort of line on Mister Coffey when Shishkin takes on Shakem Up'Arry tomorrow I'd imagine.

I was really impressed vs Envoi Allen. The winner has led from the front whilst Abacadabras has had to come from the back and around runners. Approaching the last Davy's actually getting to work on EA whilst Jack sits there cruising and its the mistake at the last that stops him getting closer to Envoi Allen than any other horse would. LTO he took the last upside the runner up who he quickly put 7 lengths between over the last 200 yards. I think he's a worthy fav but I'd be telling Jack to hold onto him and not get to the front too early in a supreme.

I should have stressed it was more last year's bumper that highlighted this but I appreciate it's not a true test and he certainly has improved in his hurdling races. I hope he wins as I have a nice double with envoi but I just have a feeling they'll be a couple of stronger finishers
 
I wish I had some negatives for Easywork.

Best I can come up with is target isn't certain.

I don't rate Mt Leinster BUT I can see the formlines via Entoucas. He did look good.



I think I mostly don't like that he was 16/1 with all bookies and Q and Scooby got triple figures. That's just unfair :p



I'm not in any rush to back him, certianly don't want to add him when he's be the shortest price of any horse I'd have taken in the race ante post..... but come the 'day of race' type markets, or some more competitve NRNB prices I'll definitely look at him in more depth again.

Trying to see how the JP bingo will play out with his novice hurdlers. Last year he only had one each in the Supreme (Fakir) and the Ballymore (Champ) and the rest in the AB (Dickie, Birchdale and Rhinestone). They don't have any clear favourite for a race this year like they did with Champ so I'd be inclined to say they might throw 2 darts at each. Based on all known form and recent comments I'd go with the following:

SUPREME
Chantry House (has the collateral form with Edwardstone>Fiddlerontheroof. Won cosily LTO)
Unexcepted (Keen over 2m1/2 so drop back to 2m would make sense. Entered in the 2m race at the DRF)

BALLYMORE
Sporting John (All runs over 2m but could potentially see a step up based on Hobbs recent comments)
Andy Dufresne (He could run over the minimum trip aswell but GE thinks he will have no problem staying the extra 1/2 mile. Entered in both the 2m and 2m6f races at the DRF)

ALBERT BARTLETT
Elixir D'Ainay (Willie said they would try and avoid Envoi Allen so maybe one for here. Entered in both the 2m and 2m6f races at the DRF)

Others
Blue Sari (stuffed over 2m LTO so no idea where they run him. Entered in both the 2m and 2m6f races at the DRF)
Front View (another promising 2 miler. No entries at the DRF)
Captain Guinness (if the rumours are true then he could be another one for the Supreme)

Dlauro might be another should he recover from his burst blood vessels
 
After a very worrying drift that was a decent performance; be interested to hear what Nico made of him
 
Shishkin has gears! One tap and he went. Was a bit green too, get another run under his belt before the festival and he could be a good one.
 
That was impressive. The form has an element of substance - he's beaten the runner up by about 10 lengths who had previously beat beaten by Mister Coffey, albeit handily, by 2l.
Given the turn of foot I'd keep him to the minimum distance but perhaps a bet TWAR more prudent....
 
was impressive, struck me as more of a ballymore horse, given those gears

I'd go along with this, my only cash bets on him are TWAR, with a free bet on the Supreme. So we will see.

Bookmakers currently seem to think Supreme.
 
Sounds like connections are favouring the Ballymore sadly? Thought that was a decent turn of foot in heavy ground

Wouldn't take that literally, as soon as Shishkin passed the jockey gave up and was just sat looking round making sure there was nothing sneaking up behind

Really? All the talk earlier in the year from sponsors, etc, was “Supreme” horse. Suppose Hendo has Chantry House and him, and if he rates both, you’d think they’d split them.
