Stayers Hurdle 2018

With the positive update from Mullins on Penhill, has anyone taken the 8/1 NRNB (or 10/1) about him for the Stayers?

I haven't as I haven't decided what price I think he'd go off and whether or not he'd be much shorter than 8/1
 
Yanworth will be entered in this race due to a wide open division - 'although nothing is decided yet'

I haven't taken either Kev but I suppose the 8/1 makes a lot of sense, especially each way. With the state of the division you could argue he might of off favourite?
 
The addition of Yanworth and Penhill to this market only makes it even more open. I’d give both a good chance of making the frame
 
Got penhill in some multiples at 10-1 , early doors before he was injured , sound positive , may get a run for my £.

Unsurprising that they would enter him up but could still come into play...10 NRNB

Can't quite make my mind up on him. I don't fancy him for any race over fences at the festival, and this race would be the only I would consider him in but even so he still doesn't quite do it for me and I feel he'll do too much wrong in March whatever race and despite his engine giving him a chance, he will fall short, particularly on good ground. Yet you look back at the Aintree race and that surely puts him bang in the mix on his only try over 3 miles and beating the current 2nd fav.

Far far more likely he goes either RSA or JLT, i'm sure only another fall or flop next time out would force King to reconsider his firm stance on the horse, but then we have seen JP dictate this horses plans last season, and with UNWIMH in nothing like the same form as last year they do have a potential slot open for this race now.

For me it's probably a price that doesn't tempt me to take a chance but any takers NRNB?

Initial thought was no, 10/1 is too skinny....

however, NRNB 10/1, when Supasundae was 1L is giving me serious consideration.

That week Power was unstoppable, riding the crest of a wave and probably rode Supasundae to its best possible. I've always assumed Yanworth needs soft ground, but that win is his best performance for me.
Looking at his Neptune win, Yorkhill was idling no doubt, but Yanworth was eating up the ground and even if he'd NEVER have passed Yorkhill, he was the only horse getting close.

All last season I was convinced Yanworth was talented enough to win the CH - now that turned out to be wrong but I do now think it is the trip rather than talent that beat him. 1.75L behind Yorkhill and 3L behind Willoughby Court (over fences) is still decent form and then he's reversed form with WC. (again over fences)

I don't think he'd shorten DRAMATICALLY at all if switching back to hurdles... but I do think he has as good a chance as Supasundae, who is 7/1

I'm more tempted now than I was on first glance!
 
10/1 nrnb looks a cracking bet to me on Yanworth and have had a max bet. If he wins a prep race he might be even fav on the day. I keep reading about people crabbing the NRNB concession and using the inflated overround as justification, but your getting the safety of it not running so there is value out there for sure and this looks like an opportunity.
 
If they plan to run Yanworth at the Stayers, the Cleeve would be a good prep run

It's definitely value as I imagine he'd be closer to 5/1 on the day. I think his next assignment was due to be fences over 3m and I assume if he impresses he might stay on that route, seems i'm one of the only ones who fancies him for the RSA

Do you think he'll shorten that much Rob?

Trainer has mentioned it and 10s is available NRNB.... with a "poor" prep.

I'm still torn!

Supasundae is 6s/7s now, I assume he'll be slightly shorter on the day. Yanworth has to be the same price if not better giving that he had the beating of him first time over the trip up at Aintree, on Supasundae's favoured good ground. I still hold out hope he'd go RSA, but that might be my pocket talking. JP might want him for the stayers now UNWIMH is on the decline

I think RSA would be more likely at this stage... I suppose if you look at it through Supasunade - he's 2nd fav for a championship race and Yanworth has the beating of him on good ground 3m at AIntree...

Can see why they'd be tempted.

Doubt they would be he's lost his novice status. Could still go over hurdles at Aintree punchestown.
Could never go jlt/ rsa again.

A fall on the next start the only way he goes for the stayers?

What about a defeat, jumping 'carefully'?

Not so sure personally supasundae is a huge big stamp of a horse, was his 1st proper run over 3 miles in a small field off a slow pace. . Another summer at grass. I'd be dissapointed if he hasnt improved since.
Yanworth coming off a chasing campaign ..... 1st proper try at 3 miles up a hill, theyve employed yogi breisner to teach him how to pop a fence, he's not the slickest hurdler. And he might give them some air.

Ruby of RUK today was asked for nap , at this stage prior to Cheltenham (if their is such a thing) was rather reluctant to give one but eventually Sam Spinner came out his mouth. That suggests to me that nothing in Mullins string will trouble SS listening to Ruby , or is he putting us away.

I think it is a general reluctance to pick one of his own but I would also be surprised if Sam Spinner got beat.

After only seven hurdle runs he appears to still be improving rapidly from race to race. He isn’t ground dependant and there still looked to be plenty in the tank the way he finished at Ascot. The only worry I would have was if they switched Apple’s Jade.
