RSA Chase 2020

Tizzards is the only stable that if you fancy one of theirs for the festival you need to pray it picks up a minor injury early season and makes a late reappearance.

JM, agree with you wholeheartedly. Just waiting for the Tizzard hand-ringing exercise in March when they can’t understand why some of their most fancied horses have just run a flat race at the Fez. :concern:

My quote was just expressing forward frustration for them in 10 weeks time. :highly_amused:

Not only do you have to worry if he's run them too many times but also what trip and/or discipline they may end up running over :highly_amused:

I'm thinking that I'll have to add Slate House to my portfolio for this race. He is a big improver this season, loves Cheltenham, is being aimed at this race and, on all known form, can't be far off being the highest rated horse in the race ? 14's is too big.

I think he does have the highest OR of the main protagonists but that is in part due to the fact he's run in a handicap and easier to measure. That could well prove correct come the day but he has now had 8 chase starts so may not be open to as much improvement as the others.

Henderson confirms that Champ goes RSA! Cmon Champ! Get some blinkers on him Nicky!

Hi everyone :) Been reading through this thread, I get the general consensus that, if Champ makes it to the line, Champ wins. And to be honest it's hard to disagree with that.. I'd like to criticise Barry but his chelt record speaks for itself.

If that line is the finish line...

Good or bad?? Over fences Im not sure its that spectacular?

Good, just speaking as in general wins. Although from my point of view the other day there was no need to jump it so quick, I'd have rather he cautiously learnt and used his engine as he was so far ahead. Left me baffled to be honest.

Geraghty looked around several times before the second last. To then come out and blame the horse for not concentrating is crass. Reminds me of the time he put Moscow Flyer on the floor in the Champion Chase because he failed to ready the horse for the fence.

He's an excellent jockey with a fine record but he did himself no favours this time.

Having been one of Barry's biggest critics.
Apart from the looking through his legs stuff I was happy to see him give a novice a more attacking ride.
The horse just let him down by taking an extra step too close to the obstacle, The side on view showed this perfectly. He met it on a decent long stride but he took another skip step.

I’d use past tense definitely.

No longer top table and amazed he’s still retained

As for his record ffs look at the horses he’s been privileged to have ridden .

Wouldn’t put him in a current top 10 of jockeys , let alone all time greats.

Don’t blame him entirely for the fall as Champ isn’t fluid at his fences but Bazza is arrogant and lazy in my eyes and a contributory factor in the fall.

If this forum owned a horse I’d be interested to see what percentage of the members would choose to have him on board ?

I’ll start with my vote

Resounding yes ........you’ve guessed ....NO :devilish:

Why doesn’t JP open the cheque book and retain Puppy? Amazing he spends all that money then won’t pay up for the best jockey which is tiny vs the cost of the horses and training fees

Misplaced loyalty ?

It’s certainly not finances :highly_amused:

Choose him over who?

I'd rather have Bazza on board than Jacob in case the horse needed to find something off the bridle.

I'd also prefer Bazza top STD, but that's because STD looks like a little rag doll, or Woody from Toy Story, flailing around like a chump.

Barry bashing is the most boring thing to read about. High profile jockeys get crabbed the most.

I don't trust him though :stupid:

What sort of reply is that ?

and I’m alcohol free , you been on them tinnies again :)

If I’ve phrased the question badly i’ll Rephrase ......”.if you as an owner had the choice of jockeys would you be happy with Bazza”
Forget worse jockeys Kev

Sorry if I’ve bored you :devilish: but I didn’t start the bashing :highly_amused:
