There are a lot of similarities in how they both position themselves and travel, both jump competently for the most part without being anything spectacular, both approach the last in a similar fashion. It's the '18 and '19 Tingle Creek that stand out though. For me it's striking, my minds eye can't have anything other than an Altior winner.

The form lines are pretty easy to hold up against one another, so the key element i'm left pondering is has Altior lost that spectacular turn of foot that has set him apart? I think last Saturday answered that question satisfactorily. I just haven't seen how DDS can match it. The form with a 12 year old Un De Sceaux helps allay any ageing fears for me.

Also as an aside, both went off as soft ground (DDS win as soft, GS in places) but it's quite misleading on face value; the Altior Tingle Creek is a mudbath in comparison!

I really wouldn't worry too much about age Jorvik. There are loads of 10, 11 even 12 year old QMCC winners (Special Tiara, Sprinter Sacre, Moscow Flyer, One Man, Martha's Son, Badsworth Boy, Rathgorman, Skymas).

I want to believe Altior can do it but I think DDS will just have too much for him.

He was alot closer to Altior and Defi. Not only is his jumping electric - he's only run 8 times in his life. Defi has been to the track 20 times (surprised was as much as this) & Altior 24 times... I'd say there's potential for much more improvement from CPS to come versus the other two... if he bolts out in front & jumps how he has been to date he'll take some stopping IMO...
 
Haven't been on for a few days but I was really impressed with Altior. Don't see much point backing him now, but certainly will be come the day. I think Hobbs will swerve this race myself. DDS would be my third pick of the three principals and CPS's running style could really help Altior. I see those two fighting out the finish. Can Altior keep close enough to him to use his finishing speed to get past.

Like most I am living for this race
Only bet I have had is on Defi,love this horse
Chacun is up and coming and a real danger
However,Altior’s form over 2 miles in races where obstacles have to be jumped is frightening

Its one of those markets that is likely to please all backers on the day. If you like Altior your getting a bigger price than you have ever had before. If you think Altior is past it then your getting 2/1 about a multiple festival winner that without Altior would be even money or less. If you think CPS will beat them both, then you will probably get 3 or 4/1.

IMO Altior will take absolute chunks of money from general public on the day.

Altior might not open up favourite but I think he will go off fav

Usually around 12:30. I hate mornings, so don't bother with them if I can help it. Get up at lunchtime, and hit the gym before I get to the desk, as I'll never go once I'm there.

Plotted up in my office by ~2:30, and there until I've had enough. Cheltenham is the only week of the year I'll be up before 9am every day. Other than when I've got to visit the offices in London for courses or meetings.
