Dunboyne definitely the most obvious one to take out of the race. Inconvenienced very badly on the home bend and yet still cruised into a qualifying place.

He'll definitely be attracting a bit of interest

I don't think you could like any of the 6 qualifiers there for the final. All of them at the bottom of the weights and the highest rated is 128

Winter Fog already had a UK rating that was plenty enough.
You can add a few pounds to most of them

Dunboyne as mentioned seems to one to take out of yesterdays qualifier, has back form last season behind Bob & Capodonno and his sire Yeats had three festival winners last season which is a small plus.

Added him to my Born Patriot and Tullybeg bets so will focus on these for that race going forward.

Added him to my Born Patriot and Tullybeg bets so will focus on these for that race going forward.

I like all 3 you've mentioned, If I had to have a bet now (Which I have) I've taken Tullybeg at 20/1. In his previous he's beaten Bardenstown Lad who then won a grade 2 Novice at Cheltenham. Wouldn't even expect to see the horse again before the day, but an English mark of 136 looks ideal.

Born Patriot was beaten this season already behind Tullybeg in the summer, although he was ahead in the qualifier that doesn't count for anything IMO. Although his English mark of 130 looks tempting assuming they save him for the day. Might want soft ground.

Dunboyne, has to be the biggest 'what if' horse out of the 3, his handicap form this season doesn't look up to much, I know there's alot to be said about his 5th place finish but there's nothing about the other 2 runs that scream he's protecting a handy mark. Maybe I'm just blind to the plot

I'm surprised people haven't locked on to the blindingly obvious with Winter Fog. Gordon Elliott isn't the only trainer who can plot a horse. He may look as though he's plotting 7 or 8 for the race right now, but Winter Fog is as 'laid out' as any of the likely Elliott participants.

I'd be fairly sure they'll do a 'Shunter' and go and get a five pound penalty somewhere if they need to (probably in a bonus race), because even after it he'll still have a stone or more in hand of his OR.

33/1 pre-race, and still 16/1 post race, I'd be fairly sure he'll be vying for favouritism on the day.

I’ve managed to stick to my guns this year regarding handicaps I’m not playing until NRNB kicks in.

Far too many points thrown away, just hold is the best advice, there’s always plenty of value in the handicaps.

You might land on one or 2 beauties antepost but best waiting imo.

I'd even go as far to say that a lot that value is still there a week or 2 before the Festival, with the odd bit still around race morning.
