PERTEMPS NETWORK FINAL Handicap Hurdle

To be fair the gap between G1 and the Pertemps is probably less than the gap is for any of the other handicaps.
Few horses stay hurdling their entire career so a good staying hurdler inevitably goes chasing, so it’s possible for handicappers to step up the graded class from here, think Sire du Berlais who has won this twice and been competitive in top staying races since.
So whilst I don’t have a strong view on Proschema he could make the transition…

Maybe a crack at the Pertemps Final then step up to Grade 1 3M race at Aintree or Punchestown.

Presenting Percy, Sire Du Berlais, Delta Work and The Storyteller were better than handicappers and all came through here.

All the Festival Handicap Hurdles can be breeding grounds for future Graded horses.

Galopin des Champs, Don Poli and Sir Des Champs through the M.Pipe, all Grade 1 winners within months.

Depends how much Dan wants Festival winners.

Proschema is only rated 145, so if his next two races were.
* Pertemps Qualifier
* Pertemps Final
then up in Grade, it's not too much time to spend finding out.
The horse wouldn't be a Graded horse if he couldn't be competitive off 145 in a Pertemps Final

He has specifically mentioned the grade 1 at Aintree for Proschema.
I immediately thought pertemps first then Aintree when he said it last week.

With a horse that travels like he does, he should have no problem getting placed only in a qualifier, anything under 150 and he's a massive chance IMO.
I mentioned in my diary and didn't want it on the main threads as someone will get quoted 8-1 by Sky or something :highly_amused:

It Probably don't matter though as it's quite an obvious one I reckon.
Although Dan may well favour a grade one next.

I just think that with the fall the other day, he has the perfect excuse to reset, go for a qualifier (restore confidence mr stewards) and then put him away until spring and go Pertemps then aintree grade 1.
There you go DAN, write it down, so you remember it ! :highly_amused:

Is he priced up?

Am I the only one that finds that staggering ?
Seems to have been around for years, and touted to win several festival races in that time...

Very impressive from Commander of Fleet there under top weight, travelled like a dream & pulled well clear. In the book for Cheltenham any race, see where he turns up.

Do you think he'll go up about 12 pounds for that? Put him mid 150s, may have to step up into Graded company now

Yeah he might well have to - was always considered as one of the best in Elliott’s yard before off with injury. As you stated on the Stayers thread he could end up there now as a live outsider. Flooring Porter won the race he won today before the Stayers last year too. Hills have him as 33s for the Stayers & 16s any race… I’m on both.

He will get whacked for that, in Ireland.

Dread to think what the UK capper would do with his rating.

Having just won a big prize at Navan, then his job may be done for the season, in handicaps.
Unless he gets low 150’s and they put the same claimer on again, for the Leopardstown Pertemps Qualifier.

Maybe he’s worth putting into the Stayers too, as a longshot, he was only beaten a close second by Minella Indo in the Albert Bartlett in his last full season racing (with Allaho in 3rd, 7L behind).

Agree

I've just taken some of the 40s with Unibet for the stayers EW. Surely if he goes to Cheltenham he goes there now

Maybe that’s why COF was 50/1 for this… :hopelessness:

Get Davy on for the Punchestown qualifier.
Finish 6th and see what mark you get.

The Bosses Oscar did well off of a big weight last year, but I fear that COF will be too high in the weights now…

Dear Gordon

Please stop blowing the mark of all your well handicapped horses

It's really strange isn't it? There's so many that have gone down 'different' routes than probably expected this year

I thought Dallas Des Pictons ran well in the race and I'm sure they didn't want to win with him and save his mark for the Pertemps which he is already qualified for. 365 have pushed him out to 33/1 now as well

Still got Dallas who shouldn't pick up a rise for that today and ran respectably too. Qualified already as well.

I see Dickie Diver entered for the qualifier at wincanton on the 26th
he doesn’t appear to have a rating over hurdles
also,not quoted anywhere
I don’t have the facility but would appreciate it if someone could get him quoted, thanks
Nicky has a good record bringing chasers back hurdling

Dame De Compagnie also entered ...currently 5 pounds higher than her coral cup win ...though recognising past history and the appeal and all that I’m not sure this will drop very quickly
