Cheltenham 2020 - Ante post bets

First copies of Mark Howards excellent One Jump Ahead have been sent out today, so should land tomorrow. Wonder what will be going blue on oddschecker tomorrow!!! It really is worth ordering if you havent already done so, best £10.99 youll spend this year.

Thanks for the update Billy. I question though the impact his book has on prices at least within the first week of the book being delivered.
From my experience over the last couple of years it’s taken a few weeks for prices to move on a couple and even then it’s not clear if that is linked to the book. Even Annamix last year who RR put up as his horse to follow I don’t think impacted the price. It was only when RR put him up on live TV a few weeks later. Incidentally RRs last 2 have not made it to the Festival, although CPS was the previous one before Annamix who was never seen that year.

Have never ordered the book Billy as I usually am too set in my ways to go against what I feel, or at least I was until I became a member on here :highly_amused:

Just wondering, and it's not to dig holes, what Mark's P/L with horses mentioned in the book for the festival have been in recent years?

I do realise it adds value throughout the whole season, but my ultimate goal (for the whole year) is profit at the festival, so intrigued to find out before I decide on making a purchase.

Last year if youd put £1 on all the runs from his top 40 prospects you would of been £26.23 up at SP prices. Obviously if youd been backing these horses with BOG and NRNB you could of got significantly better than the SP prices. Its a useful tool to have in your armoury.

Hi Guys - new to the forum, but been reading the posts for some time... Am a stalwart of Cheltenham for c20 years, and it's my absolute favourite time of the year! Luck to all, and if I come across a few, will share!!

Hi Billy, very encouraging, but do you know how many races those top 40 had? If we’re talking £26 profit on 100 runs, i.e. £100 of stakes, fair enough, that’s a decent ROI. If they had 400 runs, less so.

I get it every year, it’s always a fantastic read. For the sake of a tenner (ish) it’s well worth it, top 40 prospects usually unveils a decent novice or two as does the Irish angle and from the P2P scene

If anyone has the time.

Please could they add.
Edwulf and vyta du roc to the win any race market with hills.

Would be appreciated.

May already be aware but as far as I know Edwulf will not qualify for the Foxhunters 2020 as the rules stand.

X country im thinking. We knoe he stays, But usually a bigger price if you request any race than going straight for the obvious.

Horse ability aside, but from a horse care perspective do you think they'll put Edwulf back over an extreme distance after what happened in the NH Chase in 2017?

3rd in the Red Mills i think would rule it out as its a grade 2?

I saw that.
Does that count as a place in a four runner race though ?
Suppose it is and it isn’t

Which rule does he not fit ??

Placed in a G2 chase after 1/10/2018.

"horses who have won a Class 1 or 2 chase in the 19 months before January 1, or been placed in a Grade 1 or 2 in the 15 months before, will be excluded"

Cheers fellas.
I know the rule.
It was just the four runner bit I doubted

Unless they rejected the place prize-money, I doubt that even Rumpole would take the case.
