Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2020

Yep. The idea that the decisions made now over distance will reflect where he goes in March is historically not accurate, as you point out with Samcro

100% this. I wouldn't be getting giddy on any target based on his next run.

Anyone can say any rubbish they want, it wont be official right up until the death.
Its A dangerous game, trying to interpret comments from the likes of gordon in November.

Gordon always tells the truth.

Envoi Allen won’t go to Cheltenham this season. GE after the bumper win.

Amen. :highly_amused:

Definitely. Lots of people these days seem naturally inclined to want to play the speculation game and it's more fun/fashionable/current to try and interpret what's going to happen vs listening to what's actually been said. Whilst plans can change as can trainers minds, I would always be more inclined to follow the latter until I'm given reason to believe otherwise.

I'm very glad I cashed my Envoi Allen ballymore bet and switched it to any race

The big difference with Samcro was most of Gordy’s yard had him backed for the Ballymore IIRC?

Whilst I agree with the sentiment that's its dangerous trying to interpret comments in November, isn't that the whole point of what we are all doing on here?! Every single one of us will have backed horses that have never even run in GB& Ire for a meeting 6 months away! The very nature of antepost betting is trying to interpret comments / actions months in advance.

I think it will be interesting if EA goes 2m Maiden Hurdle, 2m Royal Bond, 2m Deloitte as his prep for Cheltenham. I always think trainers are creatures of habit and if he's a certainty to go for the Ballymore, then why not follow the Samcro route and take in the Monksfield instead of the Royal Bond? It could simply be that the Royal Bond is a week later and EA appeared later than Samcro... or it could be that they want to try him over 2m in better company to to give them a better steer on his Supreme credentials.

I couldn't have put it a better way. Spot on.

The big breakaway very impressive against little of note, looks like this could be his trip to me.
Bigger tasks ahead but hard not to be impressed.

Really was mate, just put similar on the ab thread. Think he could be smart as you say. I have any race so be interesting what connections go far next time if they step him up or not.

QUOTES: THE BIG BREAKAWAY has excited us all the way through and has gone about that like a really nice horse, but we've got to remind ourselves he's only four. He's 17hh, so he's going to keep improving and we'll look for a race around Christmas. He's a lovely actioned horse and I'm sure he'll be better on better ground, but he can cope with that easy ground with his size and raw ability. He's not short of pace and works well at home. He's one of our nicest young horses and looks like he has a massive future - he's exciting, really exciting - Joe Tizzard, assistant trainer

Re pace, page 45 of Mark Howard’s book goes into the specifics of some of the times he’s posted re him being pretty quick. Don’t have the book with me but can post specifics tomorrow

The Big Breakaway was 6:01s

Champagne Fever 5:59s
Next Destination 6:42s
Brewin'upastorm 5:51
Champagne Platinum 6:34

Different days and ground though, obviously.

One horse that I had neglected to mention from my (never ending) short list for the Ballymore was It Sure Is of Nicky Henderson. I've just gone back through my notes and marked him down as a Ballymore horse. I think the reason I hesitated in the first place was that I figured he'd remain in bumpers this season. The owners also have Shishkin with Henderson and he could also be a Ballymore type too. I've asked Bet365 for a price for the Ballymore but he's probably one for the TWAR market which I don't really dabble in due to multiples being restricted.

I always keep an eye on the sales to short list horses and It Sure Is was not the main headline as Jonjo had paid £440K for Papa Tango Charly. However, the combination of Colin Bowe + Anthony Bromley + Nicky Henderson made me take note.

It is also interesting that a number of the stable staff put him up as their horse to follow in a Unibet video as well.

Aintree Sale
Colin Bowe also offered the Shirocco gelding It Sure Is and the Ballynoe maiden winner will be trained by Nicky Henderson after Anthony Bromley and David Minton of Highflyer Bloodstock went to £150,000 to secure the four-year-old.

"Nicky thought he was the nicest looking horse in the catalogue," explained Bromley. "We've enjoyed plenty of success with our previous purchases from Colin Bowe - The Glancing Queen, who won the final race today, being a case in point."

His pedigree screams class as a son of the Presenting mare Stay At Home Mum, a sister to the Bet365 Gold Cup winner Hennessy and half-sister to Hatton's Grace Hurdle-winning mare Voler La Vedette.

Pedigree
£150,000 Aintree April 2019; second foal; dam unraced sister to bumper/2m7f-3m5f hurdle/useful chase winner Hennessy, half-sister to high-class bumper/2m-3m hurdle winner Voler La Vedette and useful 2m-2m4f hurdle/chase winner Molineaux

He has done exceptionally well since joining us and he could start off in a bumper, but I am keen to get him going over hurdles. He could be pretty smart.

Has done exceptionally over the summer, developing into a fine-looking horse. We could start in a bumper, but I'm inclined to go hurdling and he's an exciting prospect who could be smart.

Have him in the tracker myself Jackie. Close form lines from PTP’s with Ferny Hollow through Bloodstone.

I'm not sure who owns him but GIANTS TABLE at hendos is meant to be very nice too. (Bought by Jamie codd)

I keep hearing him being referenced when others related to him or ran against him are being purchased by those connected to the yard.

An exciting chaser of the future, he was impressive in his point and could go straight over hurdles; one to note.
