Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2020

I don't think there are any future cheltenham winners in the Monksfield.
But if Abacadabra's wins with the penalty (i don't think he will) then he's entitled to be respected.
I think Midnight run may turn out to be the best novice hurdler they have.
But we'll see.

Apart from Samcro, this race's history (monksfield) is littered with unclassy, staying types.

Could well be a grade 1 AND a martin pipe winner in the field.

Martin Pipe is definitely a player with that lot. for sure, at least a couple might turn up there.

Alighted trained by JOB is another from the Giggy brigade that could end up in the handicaps.

Gigginstown purchases.

It surprises me when people continue to back their horses for a race like the supreme.

Of all the horses they've had, with all the trainers all these years.

They've had three placed.

Mengli Kahn, Trifolium, & war of attrition.

In the Ballymore, they have faired better.

with 2 winners and one placed.

Samcro, First Lieutenant & Rule the world.

The Bartlett has been by far their most successfull novice hurdle race.

with 2 winners and three places.

Very Wood, Weapons Amnesty, Commander of fleet, Milsean & No More Heroes.

If you throw in how well they've done with well handicapped/highly tried novices in the Martin Pipe handicap and other staying handicaps at the festival (can't be bothered to add them up).
And the fact they have never had a horse placed in the county hurdle.

It says to me load and clear, That they don't buy fast horses, they buy staying chasers for the future.

Abacadabras was a store from arqana, not the usual ptp

If Fury Road wins as I expect him to tomorrow, I think we will have the new Albert Bartlett fav. I think he is a proper horse.

You can't seriously be saying that the horses silks affect the liklihood of winning a race.

If he's from a different background you have to judge him individually?

When you watched him, you thought he would have no chance in a Supreme? Watch it again, imagine some pink silks with green spots?

You're better than that :p

Knowing that they generally buy future staying chasers, yes I am. And there record in the shorter races at the festival backs that up in style.
It's not the colour of the silks or the background of the horse, it's who's buying, and why.
They simply have no interest in purchasing a future champion hurdler/champion chaser.
They let Gordon play with the best one they had, and that turned out bad.

And you're better than backing Gigginstown horses for the supreme after winning maidens and low grade novices.:p

My Neck's stuck out big time now.
Jot down this section of the thread for future reference :highly_amused:

Just noticed Sixshooter is declared tomorrow.
Which makes the Monksfield even worse if he don't turn up.
Be wise not to get carried away, whatever wins that race.

I know Jackie M. Has mentioned him previously. But I think CHANTRY HOUSE is worth another mention as his forms been stacking up and he's due to run next week.

His bumper has worked out nicely, the 2nd and 3rd from his bumper have ran quality hurdles debuts, where chantry house was pushed out to the line to be well on top of them.

Shiskin has been highly touted as has jp's dlauro, they were visually impressive but there was simply no depth there, I wouldnt be surprised at all, if chantry house is the better horse.

I couldn't be certain whether hes a ballymore or albert bartlett horse, but he starts over 2m on sat.. and will be an interesting watch.

I’d pencilled him in for the Ballymore myself. JP does seem to have plenty of ammunition for that race though.

Dlauro out over 2 mile tomorrow.

Very interesting race.

Rebellito for Ricci
Fils Spirituel for Donnelly

Hopefully informative.

He won a point-to-point in January and then a bumper on his racecourse debut at the Punchestown festival. He ran very well when second in a 2m3f maiden hurdle at Naas this month. He finished well clear of the third and I'd say plenty of winners will come out of the race. He'll probably go for a 2m4f hurdle at Navan early next month.

I hope he meets, andy dufresne there, as I'm pretty sure long house poet / elixir d'ainay ran in the far better race.

I’d be fairly confident Midnight Run will take his place at Navan too. Shaping up to be a cracker!
