Arkle 2020

Still amazes me someone like Kealy can affect a market like this. He's a decent enough judge but that's about it!

Bapaume entered over 2m4f at the weekend. Be surprised if they dont try him over 2m before the Festival if they do fancy the Arkle.

Cash Back also blue this morning. Noteworthy that Paddy and Betfair have shortened him to a standout 10/1 whilst being available as big as 14s elsewhere.

Can't see Willie running all three of Melon, Cash Back and Bapaume in this.

Unfortunately for my 40/1 Bapaume Arkle voucher, starting to think he will go for the Marsh.

They've also probably got Faugheen- same owners + Easy Game at the very least for the Marsh.

Unless they push Faugheen up to RSA that is...

Of the racingpost tipsters Kealy is the best by a country mile.

Edit - Having said that, he could still have Faugheen and Easy Game for the Marsh, so I suppose its not out of question.

Haha so i did...in a year where he hasn't quite a standout horse for this he might just.

Could argue if Tornado Flyer comes back they've him for it too, for all he has it to prove (marsh that is)

Yep forgot about him. He's never really been on my mind tbh, but would agree he's more likely for the Marsh than the Arkle on what we've seen.

+1

Not bought the post/weekender for ages as I was away most of December, but the only time I watch the postcasts are when Kealy or Hickey are in them.

Kealy best judge, biggest degen, and best drinker.

Hits the trifecta :devilish:

Agree. Should have replaced Tom the hack Segal years ago

Fanion D'estruval targeting the Kingmaker then the arkle for anyone who still holds faith with the horse. Wasn't too bad a performance LTO considering how bad he jumped. If his jumping is alot better at Warwick he could come into the reckoning.

Hope he does bounce back.

Glad he's still on target but major doubts now.

What else is targetting the race?

Fanion Destruval just doesn’t jump well enough to feature in an Arkle finish. Not sure a move up in trip would change that either.

Maybe a spell with Hen Knight could sort him out.

I don’t think he jumps bad but rather he jumps very low which is not surprising given his stature. Hence there is little margin for error. If he meets his fences on a good stride and gets into a rhythm then I think his jumping can be a real asset. If not, then he’s in bother. I’ve haven’t placed a bet on him but that is my take on him.

Patrick Mullins also talking up Bapaume (he’s top class on the Road to Cheltenham show, well worth a watch) whilst also saying Melon wants a step up in trip

Yep - Patrick said Cash Back and Bapaume the likely two for the Arkle with melon being stepped up. Was particularly impressed with Cash Back

Think the 'Melon stepping up' bit is old news. Willie has said recently that Arkle is his race which makes sense after his last race and previous Festival form over 2 miles.

Is that interview on RTV website anywhere, I missed it and can't find it anywhere (albeit haven't looked hard yet)

I like listening to Patrick waffle on
