Arkle 2020

In Mullins’ RP article yesterday he stated Tornado Flyer was found to have had a lung infection following his last run, which at least explains his performance. I’m not convinced he’s quite good enough for this and they’ve hinted they will go up in distance.

Another up in distance. That JLT will have a maximum field and half of them from Mullins by the sounds of it .

Try and name the field for rhe JLTand the arkle. That would be interesting.

I'd have more chance picking the lottery numbers........4, 8, 18, 27, 30 & 49.

If I fancied something at a half decent price I would back it eachway now as I think we could return to a small field Arkle again this year

But will they run.
Not easy to pick one at a decent price that will deffo be there.

Well I know we're not in agreement, but I nailed my colours to the Bapaume mast some time ago. I'm hoping for a Footpad like improvement for a drop in trip over this discipline. At 33/1 I was prepared to take the chance. At 14/1 it's a tougher call, but if he did piss in later this week he could end up being a 3 or 4/1 shot in a 5 or 6 runner field. Other than him, you have to say that, if the field breaks up, 5/1 Notebook and 14/1 Cash Back would look huge prices on the day. Personally think that Fakir is swerving this if all the signs are right

Backed Notebook, Melon, Fakir, Cash Back and Getaway Trump (still hoping they go back over fences with him). Won't be backing anything else until the day.

5 or 6 runners. Looks extremely low.

Last year's bigger field bucked the trend, didn't it. I guess a lot depends on the next runs of the fancied runners, particularly the Irish Arkle. Can see a lot of them backing out if one or two of the market leaders impress.

would imagine the front 3/4 of the wayward lad would take there chance

Really looking forward to this, got far more depth to it, than previous years

The entry stage will be interesting. How many do you think? Half will probably be Mullins horses! I guess we will lose a whole load of the English?

Usually one of the smallest fields of all the Championship races. Won't be more than 8.

Is it a Championship Race?

Is this fact there won't be more than 8?

:hopelessness:

Deffo a championship race for me, for best 2 mile novice chasers. Can we get stats anywhere on previous numbers in Arkle fields? Been trying without success.

You can easily get the cards/results up for past Arkles.
I'm going from memory but I think the biggest field since the introduction of the JLT is 12 with several renewals of 7/8 runners.
Just adds more fuel to Kevs fire...

If I had a half decent novice, I'd stick it in the race. Nothing scary at the front of the market at all. Plenty of 33/1 shots that can realistically win.

Where as the likes of the RSA will cut up, as theres a hand ful of good quality 150+ horses there.

Last years Arkle field was one of the biggest for a number of years with 12 runners. If the market stays the same with Notebook & Fakir heading it and Melon involved I think a few trainers will fancy there chances and we may end up with 12 runners again hopefully. I nabbed Grand Sancy on BF exchange at 200 the other day. That’s a massive price for a horse that could win this given his trainers previous exploits of getting an unexpected horse primed to win a novice race at Cheltenham and as impressive as the horses mentioned above have been they are not bankers and the likes of Al Dancer, Brewin & Global Citizen could put in a much improved performance to win IMHBEO

I’m just waiting for the reply to inform me that Grand Sancy either out for the season or no longer with us :stupid:

I’ve been looking at this race for ages, and still not come to a conclusion yet. Did draconien at the start of the season but think I’ll forget about that!
With all these front runners who look likely to run, I looked for a horse that could travel well in behind & stay on as the leaders hopefully burn each other out. That led me to backing Brewin’upastorm.
However I’m still convinced there’ll be a springer, something so far unproven like maybe precious cargo. It’s some puzzle.
