Ultima Handicap Chase 2020

Thought Kildisart ran a nice race in staying on 5th and only 6l off the winner. Hopefully a nice prep for the Ultima. I can see he has gone down in price with some firms(12s PP) but B365 have pushed him out to 33s.
Mister Malarkey will get a few more lbs for that win and his price has gone down to a general 12. I would much prefer to be on Kildisart at 33s and think he will turn around the form at Cheltenham, IMO.

Kildisart will need to jump much better at Cheltenham, gave up lengths at plenty of fences today.

Can't believe he got pushed out for that though. Hopefully on better ground he will run even better. I've added another point EW at 33/1 with bet365

I've had another half a point EW on Kildisart before the 33's goes! Just cant believe the price. 4th in the JLT last year a nose ahead of Vinndication and going to be at least 6lb's better off with that horse who is 7/1 fav... The step up in trip looks like it will really suit him as well. Just looks an absolute rick.

Haha me and Jono have literally just taken this, was coming on to post it!

Completely agree

That looked a hard race today in soft ground and with only 2 weeks to go I’m not going to be backing any of them as impressive as Mister Malarky was. The only stat going against Vinddication for this race is that he is currently favourite so if he drifts a bit then he should be bang on statistically wise??

Think the ground was “Good (Good to soft in places), TKP.

Nothing wrong with the exception of a couple of jumps from Kildisart there IMO.

Can't believe he was pushed after the race. Will be going back in again on him.

Diese Aba more likely to come here or the Kim Muir we think? Betting would suggest Kim Muir.

Profile wise he ticks a lot of boxes. Stats wise he is right there as per the owners/trainers/jockeys thread

Was it really? I thought Henderson pulled Fusil out because it was coming up too soft at Kempton??

Official going was given as Good To Soft in the end, but the race times were all quick so I think it was pretty fast ground compared to most of this season. It certainly wasn’t soft though, mate.

Forgot to add I’ve a Disco ticket for here at 33/1 with B365. Hoping Paul Nolan has a belter because I must have his whole team sheet covered. Up the yellow bellies :devilish:

That’s a big relief TCH, maybe Simon Claire’s assessment of Cheltenham is genuine that the course will be genuinely fresh and perfect racing conditions in fortnight....I really hope so, I hate shitty heavy racing, it reminds me of those crap losses in football and golf that should never have happened!!

I know there’s some that rate Claisse, but i’m very sceptical. I also don’t buy this “Cheltenham drains quickly” line. Not like Kempton it doesn’t!!

Go every year and always go across the course to watch the cross country in the middle of the course on the Wed. Gives you a great opportunity to judge the ground for yourself. Similar to walking across Sandown’s course from the rail station to the stand.

2 years ago, Claisse massively undercalled the ground; it was heavy, no ifs no buts.

I think he regularly calls it better than it really is.

Agree on Kildisart being an overreaction after yesterday.
Looks to be coming back into a bit of form, though will need to jump better from yesterday.
But he's a classy horse who finished in front of the 7/1 fav for this race off levels in last years JLT.

I also added Discorama as his claims are obvious.

And finally Lake View Lad
Finished 3rd in the race last season off 155. Rated 154 this year and is his only entry (so happy to go without the NRNB concession)
If as expected Vinndication runs - He'll be effectively running in the race with 6lb lower on his back though which could see an improvement there.

A Toi Phil.
25-1 2pt ew added.

Now rated 144 after running quite a nice race in the Denman chase.
Came 5th off 146 in the pertemps last year, and was once rated in the mid 150's.
Now with Moore, he might just run him here and he'd have a chance.
Got him added a few weeks back and glad he got entered here and the Brown advisory.
B365 pushed it out to 25's today so thought I'd back it now.
No idea what the plans is though but NRNB obviously.

Another nice boost to the Hennessy form with Mister Malarkey winning. The Conditional looks very well handicapped off 139 and every chance its going to be a proper slog which should suit him nicely.

if he got in, he would be close to bottom weight, with 20lbs less weight than Vinndication.

Hard to believe 139 is now touch and go! 131 got in only 3 years ago. Hoping last year was a bit of an exception and not the new rule. Wouldn't be too unhappy if a few Hennessy horses got a pound bump though!
