Supreme Novices Hurdle 2020

Not often does it happen, but at Down Royal when he bolted up, there really was a feeling he was special- i had a few up from down South for it + we all were almost in awe! Hopefully he does come back, and perhaps it's a blessing in disguise he missed the bumper.

Missing the bumper was definitely a blessing, not many bumper winners come out the following season to win a Supreme.
 
He's my biggest position already and keep chipping away with the WH boosts any race at 13/1 as I've maxed out at 16/1 with Bet365. I also feel he looked very special last year.

Fair play CCM- i have backed him + happy to hear it wasn't a major injury, but i wouldn't be going so heavy on him until i see him on tha track (probably too late by then i know). Interesting to hear he starts off in a bumper- hopefully next weekend at Down Royal!

Go hard or go home I say jack :devilish:

I'd say he will be something like 6/1 even if its only a Bumper he wins first time up so happy to take the risk now... but have the fall back of cash out with Bet365 and Any Race just in case with Hills.

I hope Malone Road is an absolute weapon, he is my biggest 'any race' bet, although not my biggest Supreme winner!

My only concern with the Supreme route for him was that he has a PTP background, only two horses (I don't know how many have tried) since the turn of the millennium have managed to win a Supreme with that background, but here's hoping he can be number three!

Yes I can completely see where you are coming from with that CoD which is why I've not just backed for the Supreme. Plenty of stamina in his breeding... and I imagine it would only take an injury to Envoi Allen for the Ballymore to come a very realistic option.

Sitting on the wall for this one! ... I was equally as impressed by his turn of foot last year but would now question what he really did it against? He was also touted as more of a staying type, as backed up by his breeding and I can’t help feeling that his target would be different if it wasn’t for Envoi.

You need to stay well to win a Supreme.

It's clear they have always thought Envoi stayed better than Malone Road- they were aiming MR at the bumper ahead of Envoi Allen.

They have to juggle them around i guess + more will be learnt when the hit the track.

Formwise- he beat Valdieu, whom had finished 1.5Ls behind City Island the May before. Valdieu had a wealth of experience for a horse running a bumper + Malone Road beat him doing handstands. He has since went on to win a bumper + hurdle and is rated 129 over hurdles.
He also murdered Mt Leinster- who to be fair was one of Mullin's only bumper runners, he wasn't a star by any means but they did speak of him well. I'd say he turned up at all the big races as they hadn't run anything else.

Not sure i'd use form to crab him given it was just bumpers and he beat them with ease!
 
Regardless of the form (which I agree doesn't have that much depth to it in the context of a Supreme), it was the manner of the victory that I found so overwhelming. He could literally do no more. Valdieu is obviously no world beater but he's clearly half decent.

I've seen very few bumper horses show a turn of foot like MR did that day at Down Royal. It was insane how he powered away in a slowly run affair. Any horse that can do that, will surely have enough speed for a Supreme. Its still a gruelling race, and as jack says, you need to stay well to win it.

Can’t argue with anything you’re both saying... may try to get something rolling on to it as don’t really want to take the plunge at 14s without seeing it on the track first.
 
Thebannerkingrebel, i was really impressed when he run mcfabolous to a lenghth back April. some very useful sorts in behind, nichols has mentioned mcfabulous is his leading novice hurdler and that run by snowdens horse came after the animal had been very poorly for several months, ran very fresh and keen too. taking display. in the book...
 
Master Debonair declared for the 16.20 in what looks a tidy race on paper. My hand may be forced on this one too as I added him to 365 a long time ago.
 
Although Master Debonair is going up against a potential Henderson hot pot, I'm going to nibble the 50/1 with Bet365 to take a position as its unlikely they will push him out that much. I was into the Master last year for the bumper but he never reached his early season form. He's had a wind op so that may sort things out and he has good course form, including early in the season. Fred of Henderson has been backed like he's a good thing and despite having few runners this season, Hendo has been hitting the target. I did read that Fred would be one for flat tracks though and Kempton had been pinpointed for him.
 
Not sure he'll end up in a Supreme but the horse im most looking forward to is Cap Du Mathan, hes been relatively weak in the market since it opened, so like a few of Pauls he might need the run more than most.

Olly Murphy’s Nickolson just won the opening maiden hurdle at Wincanton well. Don’t think he beat much but he travelled, jumped & quickened up very nicely. Olly has given him a few promising mentions from what I’ve seen. Might be one to keep an eye on.

Watching this race back im happy with having Nickolson on board. Olly mentioned the Tolworth as a potential target down the line. 50/1 still available with PP. Seems generous to me.
 
Malone Road's price has contacted for this over the last week, with Paddy Power cutting him to 8/1.

Has anything happened other than the stable tours?
