Supreme Novices 2018

Would RR want to run both Getabird and Sharjah against each other though? I'd doubt it.

Good point, maybe Sharjah hasn’t recovered from that fall well, haven’t heard anything since. Or could just be that the timing of the race suits Getabird... I could see Next Destination in the Supreme but not Getabird at this stage

I think its the timing bit. Falls nicely for him and he has several horses who are all comfortable at 2m-2m4f so it isnt a big deal where they all run.

Suggests Getabird wont be stepping up to 3m though, so if ND isnt heading to the AB, he still has a big hole to fill in that race

Assuming he runs 'a few' in the Supreme, what do you reckon they'll be at this stage? If we assume none in the same ownership...

I'd still go for Sharjah, Real Steel and Sayar ..... and keep ND and Getabird up in trip.

Don’t forget about Draconien. Looked hugely impressive on debut, back out again Thursday I think. I still think AB most likely race for Getabird. Penhill was campaigned almost exclusively at 2 miles, albeit it he did have one go at 3 before the festival which doesn’t look like Getabird will

My guess (likely to be well off the mark):

Supreme: Next Destination, Sharjah, Real Steel

Ballymore: Draconien, Duc Des Genievres

Bartlett: Getabird

I've given up trying to be honest! Think you could swap them all round countless times and it still look feasible.

The only thing I feel confident about is that ND and Getabird are his two best and will be split up.

Good point about Draconien Rob... I had forgotten about him but was quite taken with him on debut.

I’d be very intrigued to see Duc De Genievres dropped to 2m you know. Travelled like a good horse yesterday although it was a funny run race. Would like to see him off a fast 2m. Perhaps the 2m2f race at Leopardstown that Champagne Fever once won?

Exactly that. Agree 100% I was thinking poss county hurdle.

I must say I am still happy with If The Cap Fits in this atm. Still, a while to go yet for Mullins and Elliott's plans to be finalised to add to the excitement!

Me too. Quite impressive to do that on debut in a Grade One! Telling that WPM was even prepared to let him do that I suppose.

Me too and now one of my biggest winners of the week. There was a good debate some time ago about whether ITCF was better than Samcro (Scooby and FM) when it was thought ITCF would go for the Ballymore (still might of course). Shame I didn't think of the double at the time when ITCF was 33s for this.

Now NRNB is available with 365, I'll have ITCF in some multiples. Apart from on this forum, I think he's going to be under-rated, a little bit like Cinders and Ashes was going in to the Supreme. The horse also reminds me of Neon Wolf in his first two starts and I feel like Fry deserves a cracking one again. Still think it is a joke he isn't credited with the CH win for Rock On Ruby - but he clearly knows a decent 2m hurdler when he has one!!!

Looking forward to ravenhill road today, having originally backed him for the Albert bartlett seeing him running over 2 miles again today has made me back again for both the Supreme and the ballymore with the nrnb concession.

That run from ravenhill road didn't justify the trainer's hype. It's odd that he said he wouldn't run him on winter ground then proceeds to run him on frost affected soft. I'm not saying that gives him an excuse, more that I don't follow the logic.

Perhaps he felt he just HAD to run him? HArd to take any positive though.

Getabird is the common sense nrnb for this will prob steo up in trip. Unless he bolts up and beats mengli khan. He still might go up in trip. But if he dosent win he deffo won't go here.

If he wins he's roughly a 6/1 chance and simular for the ballymore id have thought. On connections alone.

Either him or sharjah can go up in trip for the ballymore no problem.

Maybe he did feel he had to run him. I wonder if the horse had a setback we didn't know about. He was withdrawn twice before Christmas when the ground was more suitable than it was today. Anyway it doesn't augur well for his Cheltenham prospects. The trainer had backtracked a bit on his earlier 'machine' comment by saying he might be more of an Aintree horse. You never hear Mullins coming out with that sort of guff with his best horses.

:encouragement: will include him in some multiples this afternoon.

I've done a novice hurdle trixie of ITCF/Samcro/Apple's Shakira which I often stop to admire when reviewing my spreadsheet
