September ‘25 Yankee

Wouldn’t be going near Brighterdaysahead.

Mares novice was a shoe in and got beat, folk will point to champion hurdle winner beating her but she was a very fortunate winner this year.

Ran a stinker this year when well fancied by a lot of people in racing including Ruby from WPM’s yard.

Oops 😳

Did they plan to go chasing then last season and reverted to hurdles due to poor schooling?
Yes.
She did

She'd be a better option if she came to Cheltenham in the winter and proved she can turn out her best at the track - instead of bursting her balloon here 🎈 the last 2 seasons.

Ballyburn jumped like a schooling wardrobe too, but still went chasing and snagged a Grade 1 win (among his 2 wins from 5) - but not where it matters most - at Cheltenham!!

Yeah she isn't for me. I won't back her for any race. It's a niggle I don't have to worry about this year, her, Jonbon and Constitution Hill are on my avoid list, it's not actually a list, (rest easy Jackie 😄) I just won't touch them with a barge pole

Come to think of it, there are quite a lot of horses that don't enter the reckoning whatsoever this year as I'm sure most of you have binned them, Enurgemene, El Fabiolo, Sir Gino, Con Hill, Jonbon, Brighterdaysahead, Il Eat Francais, Banbridge, Grey Dawning, Monty's Star, Home By The Lee, Fastorslow, Gerri Colombe, Found A Fifty, Ile Atlantique, Inthepocket and Grangeclare West but that one isn't because of ability, he is more than capable of a good showing in the Gold Cup but after his run in the Grand National I suspect they will run him over inadequate trips to try and get him back there.

That's a list disguised as a paragraph.

I agree with that list, i won't be backing any of those either, though if Sir gino proves he's fit and well before Cheltenham i may change my mind on him, saying that, if he does prove his wellbeing beforehand he'll probably be too short for me to back, anyway.

Bloody good angle doing these monstrous exclusion lists. The only horse that really would remain truly backable has now unfortunately retired in Langer Dan. If he was still in training he’d have automatically been leg 1 selection.

I might still choose him anyway.

😄😄 It's not a list, well it is I suppose but it's in my head of horses I know I won't go near. I do have lists of novices and open hurdlers/chasers then segregated some more into owners and trainers. Just helps me to narrow down targets rather than going through races and forgetting what I've seen in previous races. At least half of those horses won't go to Cheltenham anyway I don't reckon so won't have to worry about them.

I was gutted about langer Dan last year. I was sat there on 33s all season thinking I had been shrewd

I watched the Let's Talk Racing Podcast last , night .
News regarding the Jukebox Man , .
The King George at Kempton is the Target at the moment , although they thought about the Paddy Power.
Then , Ben Pauling think's Ryanair Chase is more likely than Gold cup .
Gold cup in 2027 ??. , but obviously that could change if he won the K.G. this year.

I thought he was ruling out Gold Cup even if they won King George.
I only watched the L.T.R podcast , apparently there is a longer interview with Ben Pauling ...
subscribe e.t.c... may be more in depth ??.

Now, I love the yellow clay and William munny. But if there are strong rumours that they may stay over Hurdles, then I’d have a real fancy for KDB in arkle and fd in BANC

Derryhassen Paddy for the BANC.

I know he's featured in one already but I'd say he target is near on certain - the yard have an unbelievable recent Festival record with very few runners. Most of theirs tend to improve for fences - still plenty of value around the 25/1 mark.

Has only had 4 lifetime starts so ran an incredible race in the Albert Bartlett (a race than tends to favour the more experienced runner) having only ran in a bumper, a maiden and a novice.

I really think Final Demand will be very good and obvious choice for the Brown Advisory.
However I do have Derryhassen Paddy as my 2nd choice, agree with your comments above Rufus.
Wouldn't knock picking Paddy.

Rocky’s Diamond might come into it. His win over an inadequate trip tonight on a sharpish track will not have been ideal. But he dealt with the challenge well. His 4th in Stayers shows he can handle Cheltenham and 33/1 looks good value.

Thought he was very good over an inadequate trip.

Willies horse backed off the boards but couldn't jump.

Rocky's Diamond still a big old price at 33's.
