September ‘25 Yankee

Rocky’s Diamond might come into it. His win over an inadequate trip tonight on a sharpish track will not have been ideal. But he dealt with the challenge well. His 4th in Stayers shows he can handle Cheltenham and 33/1 looks good value.

…..40-1 Hills specials ;)

The Yellow Clay - stayers hurdle .. 16-1 . now that Gordon Elliott has said he'll stay over hurdles ..
A horse not already in any of the yankee's so far .. ??.

On the face of it this looks a smart call, I could be way offside but I think it could be a little more complicated;
There's nowhere else for Teahupoo to go so you have to assume he's Stayers bound again, I still think the 3m trip is Wodhooh's best chance of festival success and getting 7lb from the boys the Stayers makes more sense handicaps and in any case she is a genuine G1 horse (and markets suggest she's mares bound), but underneath all this is Eliiott's Pertemps record, could it be that at 156 The Yellow Clay has a mark that wins a Pertemps?
Elliott knows how to win a Pertemps and has done it with G1 horses before, It isn't impossible that mark gets manipulated down a pound or two as well.
So whilst The Yellow Clay may have a leading chance in the Stayers, his presence there could nullify other horses in the yard so there could just be a switch up to give them other darts to throw...

Any love for Kalif Du Berlais in the QMCC. Fell in first race over fences when going well since then is 3 wins from 4 races over fences and is 3/3 over 2 miles. Won over 2 miles at Cheltenham. Won a Novice G1 at Aintree. Will only be 6 years old in March 2026 so must have some, hopefully significant, improvement in him. At 16/1 I am warming to him.

I like him and have backed him. He's young, lightly raced, jumps well and open to plenty of improvement, i think 16/1 is a decent price, with doubts over a few of the others.

Absolutely

Only missed the Arkle because the owner decided Leau Du Sud could go there, and let KDB go to Aintree, where he ended up vs Leau Du Sud anyway, and beat him 6-lengths

Look like they sent the wrong one to the Arkle.

Hopefully they won’t want to look daft, and make the same mistake this time round

I watched the Ginger Joe interview with Gordon Elliott a couple of nights ago .,
But i must admit i wasn't giving it my full attention .
Teahupoo , he said ( G.E. ) , would only run a couple of times , best fresh .
might bring him over to a race here , November /December instead of Hattons Grace ?/., 2 and a half miles , a bit sharp ?/.
Honesty Policy , said , nothing been decided ., .. hurdling / chasing .. ??.
The Wallpark ..probably going chasing ..
The Yellow Clay .. staying hurdling .
So there's 4 potential stayers hurdles runners for him , 3 if you take out The Wallpark.
As i said earlier on , I am hoping H.P. goes chasing .. he likes this horse G.E.
So it wouldn't be out of the question to run Teahupoo and The Yellow Clay , as different owners .
But i think your point about the Pertemps is a good one , I personally think that The yellow Clay is too classy for that .
So , could Honesty Policy be the potential Pertemps horse .. ??. as only a 6 year old next year .. and already ran the distance .. ??.
Plenty of options here for sure .

And , I didn't even mention Wodhooh , so it's back to 4 options again . (y).

I 100% agree The Yellow Clay is a classy horse and could well head to the top of the division this season, but my point was that classy horses can and do win Pertemps, if a horse is well handicapped in relation to their true ability then taking in a handicap on the way to graded prizes makes sense (especially if connections are punters).
Mullins has been farming the County for years with future G1 winners.
Sire Du Berlais and Presenting Percy are two to have won the Pertemps off top weight and went on to be open G1 winners, go back a bit further I remember Fingal Bay winning the race off top weight but I'm not sure he achieved much after.
The beauty of being a second season hurdler is that your mark will be lower than seasoned established horses that are proven at G1 and, as I said in my original post, if The Yellow Clay is to be their #1 Stayers dart where does that leave Elliott's other horses ?
Finding the best horse for a race ante post is usually only part of the battle...

I'm finding it really difficult to find chinks in the armour of this reasoning. The Yellow Clay - pertemps is a ridiculously good shout this early on Ista. I'm very much on board with the idea.

I wouldn't be having penny on myself unless I see an entry.
The Pertemps is not so much a suggestion, more a warning flag for those wanting to back him for the Stayers....
