Surely he'd drift for the qmcc if he was beaten by cyrname ?

I'd be certain he'll improve for 2m4 , and cant comprehend cyrname beating him, I just wish they weren't going right handed on both counts.
I get the king george is a huge race, but it's not the right one. If he jumps way out to the left latches back on the bridle and runs down cyrname going away, like I expect.

Would they have the balls, to divert him to the savils chase. Probably not. But it would be the right call.

I won't be backing it, just highlighting it for others who might want him onside.

I don't think they'd push him out for the QMCC if he lost, as it confirms his target.

Whether he SHOULD drift is another matter, but they won't push him out past 5/1 or whatever big price he's been.



Hopefully he wallops Cyrname.... I've said more than once that I literally don't care about whether it's right or not, I'm going to be with Altior for the KG because I am confident he's the best horse in training... and IF he does go on to be like Kauto Star, I want to have ridden the rollercoaster.



Got enough races and worries making money in other races, got to enjoy part of it at least :highly_amused:

When asked if people were right to be getting excited about Chacun Pour Soi this season, Mullins said: "Yes. He's in great order.

"We'd been waiting for him to come out for a long time last season, but his run at Punchestown was exceptional.

"We have to try to repeat that form this year. He's in the John Durkan (at Punchestown next month), but there'll be others. I wouldn't want him and Min against each other at this point in time.

"He's comfortable at two miles, but I don't mind going out in trip. He'll get an entry in the Hilly Way, and there are not many more two-mile races around before Christmas.

"He's not fragile, but different things have happened - and because he's so good, I've been inclined to give him more of a break.

"Last year, when he came right, it was too late to go to Cheltenham - but I wanted to get him going. Sometimes when you get them on the track they stay sounder, and he's been good this year.

"I don't think ground is an issue- he's a good horse, he'll go on any ground.

"The John Durkan is probably the one definite place I can aim with Min - he likes the track, and if he's fine he'll go there."

"I know he is entered in the King George, but I would imagine he will stick to the minimum trip. He is a very good horse and a horse of his ability will go on any ground."
 
If Defi were mine and Altior stays up in trip he’d be going here.
 
Chacun beats him hard on the bridle. Regardless of where Defi goes at the festival he’s likely to bump into a top notcher I feel. I’d only want Defi on side if others picked up knocks

Some statement. Defi has a sensational Cheltenham record and twice won at Fez. Chancun has............won an end of season top 2 mile race.....

Which was only his 2nd race in as many years. This is an absolute top notcher. Ruby was asked today to name one horse from the Mullins stable he’ll miss riding this season and he answered Chacun, mentioning that he’d schooled him last season and he has a huge future. He has to get to the festival obviously but if he is lining up on the day he’d be the NAP of the festival for me

A really exciting horse who showed a lot last season when trouncing his rivals by 31 lengths on his debut at Naas in March before putting up an exceptional performance when beating two Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winners in Defi Du Seuil and Duc Des Genievres in a 2m Grade 1 at the Punchestown festival. He came right too late to be a Cheltenham horse last season, but fingers crossed all will go well with him this season and if it does then he would look a worthy Champion Chase contender. I would have no problem stepping him up in trip and he is in the John Durkan over 2m4f at Punchestown and the King George at Kempton, but we'll probably keep him to 2m in the immediate future and consider the Hilly Way at Cork next month or the Grade 1 at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting.

We didn’t know what to expect when he went for the Clonmel Oil Chase on Thursday considering how long he had been off the track, so we were absolutely delighted to see him win so well. Plans will depend on how he comes out of the race, but it was a very encouraging effort. He might not quite attain the heights he scaled in the past but on Thursday’s evidence there should be more good days to come if he stays right. He’s in the John Durkan and the King George, and will have other entries over Christmas. Whether we stick to 2m4f, try him over 3m or go back to 2m is very much up in the air.

Not convinced especially with Ruby bigging him up ! Lol ! Cheltenham in March in winter ground against top notchers and a mahoosive crowd is a far cry from Punchestown on fast ground at the end of a long season.
 
Defi jumping at pace the biggest worry for me, tactical affair and turn of foot got him through again today. Happily take him on , on better ground over 2m thou personally.

exactly, which is why he should be going up in trip,
he outstayed Lostintranslation in the JLT.
He was only just stretching out today at the finish.
They're just pot hunting at 2 miles (which is understandable)
 
Defi is ideal for 2m5 imo. I'd be against him here and very for him in the Ryanair (or further)
