Queen Mother Champion Chase 2019

I know.

But that is why they should avoid Altior. He has a realistic chance of winning the Ryanair. Whereas he has very little chance (if any) of beating Altior over 2m with that hill finish at Cheltenham.

Special Tiara's connections would disagree with this mantra.

Footpad would start fav in the Ryanair and win it imo. He’ll finish second in the champion chase so why not go for the race you’re likely to win and let your second or third strings fill the places behind altior.

...because you'd rather have Special Tiara than Dynaste?

UDS was beaten in the Ryanair last year and min is by no means a cert this time

Even if that's the case, what if Willie believes Footpad can beat Altior, should he just not go because it's Altior?

Racing wouldn't half be boring if horses avoided the best of each division.

The simple question is.

Kautostar

Have you backed footpad for the Ryanair by any chance?

There isn't really any need to say what "we" would do if we owned Footpad.... Munir/Suede have shown us they won't shirk a challenge, they don't mind running their best against each other....

If the trainer gets his way, he goes for the Gold Cup too....so a waste of time considering 'avoiding' Altior.

Ruby still needs a ride in the QMCC.... he had a 1/4 shot beaten

Do you think that might change if it disappoints again at 2m?

Maybe, but if Footpad is disappointing over 2 miles, then I wouldn't be backing him over any distance. Something would have had to have gone wrong, if he is no longer the best 2 mile novice from last season?

Nor would I. I'm thinking of the repercussions for Cheltenham targets.

No I’ve actually backed him in the win any race market but I don’t believe il be collecting anything if he runs in the champion chase against altior

Why would you back it win any race if you don't think it has a chance against Altior? Should have just taken a bigger Ryanair price.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing! Not my finest bet this year, but I backed it early on before footpad lost this season thinking he would rack up a load of wins in Ireland and go for the champion chase as a shorter priced second fav or nailed on certainty if anything happened to altior with the insurance of any race (which I’ve done a lot more of this year) in case connections upped him in trip. Just one of those bad bets that hasn’t gone to plan

early doors yet

True it’s a long way till march but I don’t think altior will lose if he turns up in one piece at Cheltenham

I wouldn't worry about it too much Kautostar , I've got plenty of crap bets , we can't all be perfect .
Any way, Only need one or two good one's to have a decent festival.

Very true the ups and downs of ante post betting :)

Footpad is set to run in the Paddy’s Rewards Club “Sugar Paddy” Chase at Leopardstown on December 27.

Willie Mullins’ six-year-old carried all before him as a novice last season, winning the Arkle at Cheltenham and the Ryanair Novice Chase at Punchestown.

His return to action did not go to plan this term, however, looking beaten when he fell at Naas in a race won by Saint Calvados, picking up a minor injury in the process.

“Yeah, he seems good. He has been doing fast work at home. He has schooled at home and all seems well (after cutting his leg),” said Mullins.

“Hopefully, fingers crossed, everything will be all right. It looked a very ordinary cut so we didn’t worry too much about it but it was obviously sore. We have let it heal up now and it’s fine.

“That race (Paddy’s Rewards Club Sugar Paddy Chase ) at Leopardstown seems the target for him now, we’ll go there, see how he comes out of that.”

Mullins also confirmed Great Field and Min for the race.

Wowsers. Willie reckons all 3 to run against each other

Great Field

It is obviously not ideal if he has to run against Footpad at Leopardtsown on Thursday in the Grade 1 but if there's nothing else suitable for him thats where he will go
