Novice Hurdlers 2027

I will have everything by the time the Supreme comes around. Standard procedure 😂

And me .... except the Winner !!.😂😂.

Basically what happened last year. 🤪.
I always get it boxed off come hell or shine. The one race of the festival I am prepared to take a hit on long term. Has never happened thankfully, I always get out of it ok since I started book building but years ago when I have had poor Supremes, it can send you on a grabbing raid in other races, just from personal experience. I will stake between £20 and £50 a horse depending on the horse so say I spend £400 on the race to the start of the Supreme and I get, say £500 I am happy. Fortunately never happened though and although not ideal and not very clever, the odd 20 quid here and there isn't missed leading up and come the day, when it drops in, the rest of the festival seems to go smoothly. Even though I book build on every race and only have the odd bet on the handicaps during the week, the urge to try and get a winner isn't there. When Saratoga crossed the line in the Boodles last season I chipped. The whole stakes I had made for the 4 days were paid because of him, Old Park Star and Kargese and was already in profit and then ridiculously got the first 5 home in the plate from 5 bets. Madara was my first handicap bet last Christmas at 25/1 (I don't do many antepost) the rest came from Saxons trends. I want to emulate that again. I didn't get the winners of the Ultima, Champion Hurdle and NHC but got some nice place money (that makes a big difference to me at the end of play on Friday) that's why I am always, and I mean always looking out for big value down the markets because it's there. I spend at least an hour every night doing some sort of work on Cheltenham up until it's fez time. Love sitting there on decs Sunday with the hard work over and watching the final markets form.

I don't build a book for every race , but I suppose a version of it , after the festival ends and you have a small break from anything Cheltenham related..
I start over , The Gold Cup is usually the race I get stuck into first , and the race that I will most likely have the most runners in .
It's just become a habit for me , and hopefully it also means I end the week on a high , plus a profit!.
I think two years ago was my worst year , but saved by the bell in the g.cup.
So , yes .. willing to take a stab at a few early doors, at bigger prices , small stakes .
Re back and top up , as the season develops .
I have a limited amount of cashout option.
Hence the small stakes to start with ..
But if there's any I really like / fancy ,, I am prepared to risk it for a biscuit..
I did lose several of my " Big " Bets last season , but thankfully , G.W. , made sure I came out marginally in front.
Circumstances have changed for me this year , so had to down size on stakes ,
But still managing to back a few..
My m.o is generally speaking ,,,, betting on a saturday / sunday . or big meeting - aintree , punches, ascot , York, goodwood etc......
And what comes back on ' monday ' goes on something for Cheltenham.
The exception to this for me is during , and the week after the festival , backing a few ' obvious ' ones ,, Arkle - Ch. Chs. , b.a.n.c.- G.cup. ..e.t.c....
I still Love it ,, even if my finances are stretched at the moment , because of stuff going on.
And even when I have had a 'good ' festival
I try to keep it real , not go crazy..
That's why I Love this Forum .
Great for bouncing ideas ,thoughts around ,
Without getting your head bit off.
And making use of the fantastic knowledge , and stats and knowhow given by people on here.. 👍👍👍👍... #❤F.J.

I'm the same with the financial aspect. I live on my own so all bills are mine 😭 if I didn't do 30 hours overtime a week it wouldn't be possible for me either. I don't bet in the week but will have a go on a weekend if there are good meetings on. Had a decent day yesterday (would have been even better if Paborus had hung on 😭😂😂) stuck 5 festival bets on and withdrew the rest. Cheltenham is my hedge on inflation, an investment I take out in march 😄😄 I walked way with £5500 profit last Cheltenham and was supposed to back Home By The Lee on the day. It was the only gap I had. Thought his price would go out so I waited until the day, I forgot and it didn't 😂

Down Jones Road got plenty of haircuts yesterday and it's continuing today for the Supreme. Un-moved in the Turners. Saw a podcast last night with Jerry McGrath saying he is a 2 to 2 and a half miler but that's all I've seen regarding him. Not sure if that justifies him being cut for the one race but that's what's happening.

Mydaddypaddy got a good few clippings yesterday for the Champion Hurdle too. Dunno where or why that would happen. Everyone already knows it's his aim.

The Mourne Rambler is entered in a 1m 6f flat race at Navan on Wednesday. Random of all randomness

Confirmed as going straight over hurdles this season, that's probably why.

@RoadToCheltenham have him a mention on his X feed and the cuts started to appear.

If Down Jones Road is the best of Hendo's, we just need to find the Skelton and Mullins stable number 1. It's easy this game😅

If Down Jones Road heading to the Supreme then COD's thoughts on Feel Gut potentially being Turners bound may be spot on.

Watched the Supreme back several times yesterday and MDP was probably 2 lengths too far off the back of Old Park Star and Sober rounding the final bend. Had to make up that ground at that point which probably didn't help him at the finish. Took a bump too at a crucial stage in the run in. He is a super traveller and fast jumper though and I can see why they've stuck around for another season over Hurdles with him especially with the other two going chasing.

Could go either way still, both have to prove good enough, which is the big question over any novice hurdler, it's purely just an opinion that DJR will go down the 2m from me.

Decided to back Mets Ta Ceinture for Supreme, 33/1 Hills.
She made UK debut in Cheltenham Bumper when 2nd.
Start in Mares Novice Hurdle but likely to take on the boys, would think Formby Hurdle grade 1 Aintree on Boxing Day.
If she wins that, they'll have to look at Supreme (or Turners I suppose).
Also Skelton has Nans Choice who Dan has already mentioned the Mares Novice Hurdle for her in March in Stable Tour, does that mean he thinks Mets Ta Ceinture will take on the boys in March ? (getting 7lb allowance).
Well at 33/1 its worth a poke and a few doubles to find out.

Down Jones Road and Mourne Crystal been very popular talking horses this year. Word of caution though. Only one of the last 11 winners of the Supreme went from P2P to Hurdles and that was arguably the best of them all, Constitution Hill.
