National Hunt Chase (4 miler) 2019

"Ok Corral made a winning Chase debut at Plumpton on Monday and we’ll probably try and find another similar race to give him more experience but he has come out of the race in great form and I think he could be ideal for something like the 4 mile National Hunt Chase at the Festival"

Fantastic quote for me as only backed him for this race

This is brilliant news :triumphant: Let's hope they stick to that!

Ok Corral

Still 20/1 with 365 - 1/4 the odds.

If he's "the one" for JP - he's not going off at even half that.

Just a no brainer again.

On Any Race already but added at 20/1.

(Also helps my Glenloe Kim Muir theory :p)

A pleasing quote. He's number 1 for me in this.

Another cracking run from Jerrysback today. His jumping has been improving considerably run to run. Love the fact they are getting lots of experience into the horse with 3 runs already. Into 20/1 now for this race. Worry would be that they either look towards handicaps (RUK made a point that he could potentially stay on 144 despite todays run...novice chase on day 1) or even JLT/RSA but i'm really keen on his chance here. Further he goes the better.

Indeed it was Jono. He hit a flat spot 2 out then ran on really well to the line. I'd have thought they'd be looking at the handicap route for this horse. Ultima springs to mind with his rating. From memory they need to be at least 143??

He had a mark of 144 before yesterday so no doubt he'll be ok to get in to any of the handicaps. Am I right in thinking that the below changes in 2017:

The most controversial of the latest changes will be a trial that exempts horses finishing in close proximity to much higher-rated winners in weight-for-age novice chases from having their ratings raised in all but Class 1 novices, a move prompted by a preconception that is refuted by handicappers but has compromised novice chase field sizes for years.

Mean his mark will stay the same (144) for finishing second yesterday?

Which would open up and guarantee a run in both the Novice Chase on day one and the Kim Muir if they were to leave him alone until the festival now (would be surprised if they did). I'd certainly be wanting to see him over 3m+ though at a minimum at the festival

All eyes on the 1-20 at Leopardstown - Friday . Bacardys, tower bridge etc......

Bacardys runs. Ruby onboard.

Gun Digger 15/8
Bacardys 2/1
Borderline Chatho 4/1
Tower Bridge 13/2
Whisperinthebreeze 8/1
Another Barney 25/1

I’ve had an absolutely abysmal Christmas betting

And even I wouldn’t back Bacardys at 2/1

Haha, cue the immaculate round of jumping tomorrow then

I had a bad Boxing day, 30+ pts down, better today with +22 pts.

Down before I start tomorrow as I backed Benie Des Dieux in the Squared Financial Hurdle :very_drunk:

How long do you beat a dead horse and keep trying with him?

I backed Bacardys today too. Gutted. He only had to clear the lasts and he’d have won that by 5 lengths.

That should be the end of his chasing career. I fear he is going to end up with a fatal injury if they persevere.

You can't fault the implied wisdom that he's one for the 4 miler though.

The commentator thought he was out of the race heading round the turn, not dissimilar to his big hurdles win.

The further he goes, the stronger he is.

Obviously he struggles with jumping though, was losing lengths at the majority of fences, with only two decent jumps in the whole round - and a fall.

I may actually takee 33/1 NRNB for the Stayers hurdle.

Nice run from Blow By Blow with a view to this race possibly, he looked a little out paced at times but stayed on well to finish 3rd.

Agreed, was a better run from him. I wouldn't have him a leading contender but he'd have a chance
