Dissapointed that Dysart Dynamo, Hubrisko or State man havent got a mention as i have them all covered and the WDW targeting ballymore is a sickener for my bartlett bets but other than that it was fairly positive for my book

His RP tour is far more comprehensive.

I know Dysart Dynamo was mentioned but I can't see anything on State Man, any chance you could post what was said?

It isn't a negative that some horses haven't been given a mention. There are lots of examples from previous years where some who are rated highly in stable tours turn out to be dog shite, and some who aren't mentioned at all turn out to be the stable leading lights.

Frustrating that no info was given of course, as to their well-being, targets, etc but stable tours can also be misleading, so best not to get too hung up either way. Race entries will tell us more most likely.

Believe the quote about State Man was on the Sporting Life stable tour. The link is in the diary section on the Stable Tours post

From SL article;

New recruits who could be worth noting…
ALLEGORIE DE VASSEY is a filly by No Risk At All that we bought from France. She was placed a couple of times over hurdles, is a fine big mare that will no doubt jump a fence some day.

BRING ON THE NIGHT is by Gleneagles and he’ll go hurdling as well. GAELIC WARRIOR is a three-year-old by Maxios so we might see him in juvenile hurdles around Christmas time, while GOT GLORY is a three-year-old filly by Great Pretender and she looks like one who could be a Triumph Hurdle horse this season.

We got a very nice five-year-old gelding by Poliglote from Martinstown called GOVEN. He’s a really super-looking horse and hopefully he’s as good as he looks.

We've got a four-year-old filly by Boris De Deauville called HARMONIE STAR. She ran very well in bumpers in France and she’s one that’ll probably go over hurdles before too long.

HAUTURIERE is a filly by No Risk At All and she looks a good, strong filly. We’re looking forward to her in the novice hurdle division and we have another No Risk At All filly called HEIA for Kenny Alexander, she looks another nice horse to go jumping with.

HORANTZAU D’AIRY is a four-year-old gelding by Legolas, he’s a fine type who we will be getting out over hurdles around Christmas. Then there’s HUBRISKO who is by Doctor Dino, his half-brother Grand Bornand won well for us over fences at Galway this summer. Hubrisko could be even better than him.

OLYMPIC MAN is a fine, beautiful-looking horse who we’ll start off over hurdles and he’ll be a nice one to watch.

We’ve bought a couple of other nice juveniles – PARMENION is by Soldier Hollow and we will have a go at some of the nicer three-year-old hurdles with him, if it doesn’t come off we could put him by for next season.

STATE MAN is a four-year-old gelding by Doctor Dino and he’s jumped very well early in the season for us at home, he looks one who could make a name for himself a little later in the season.

Personal opinion, but have people been a tad quick to cash Ser Gerhard and Kilcruit imo. Like they'll still be listed in each race at fairly short prices probably right up to the fest, and stuff could change very easily?

Potentially Robith and you can't always take things said by Willie as gospel but personally for me I have Sir Gerhard to win any race and the only bet I had with Kilcruit in was a double with him to win ballymore and SG to win the supreme.

I cashed that out and put it on the way Mullins' sees it at the moment as I would much rather go with his view than the opposite right now. The price was also considerably bigger the other way round which is always nice.

I know what Willie said and according to ratings Echoes needs to improve approx.14 lbs. that's one hell of a improvement. Maybe she is 14lb better this year who knows but ask yourself this if Ferny was racing against Echoes tomorrow in a match who would you back?

Echoes 100%
depends on prices though, but even money the both I'd take her all day long.

Yes, its only current thinking that one may prefer the shorter trip and one may be able to step out to the longer one.

I've got both horses in both races from months back, and I am leaving myself covered all ways.

So would I

Add 7lb on to Echoes rating, then that have her 1lb behind Bob, and 2lb behind AI.

its not just wishful thinking, hopefully :biggrin-new:

Adding in the Novices
Adding in the 7lb Mares Allowance

Take out AI and Bob Olinger going chasing, and Aramon recovering from a long-term injury, and you have

* Honeysuckle head and shoulders above everything else (and with a "p) for improvement
* Sharjah in second place
* Echoes In Rain in third place, before she even steps out of Novice company (and with a "p" for improvement.

From where I am sitting, Echoes is comfortably the main candidate to have the best chance to take on the Champion Hurdle winner, until she proves she can't.

Yes she has to improve, but given she is so close to the Champion Hurdle 2nd, and better than the Champion Hurdle 3rd or 4th are already. then she's the one whose future could plateau or rise the highest.

We should find out Part 1 of that journey in under 2 weeks.
