Mullins stable tour

Amongst other newcomers in the stable tour, I'm interested in Bring On The Night. He's been included in the last two Mark Howard books and according to Willie he starts off novice hurdling. Given his breeding (by Gleneagles), what race at the festival would be his likely target??

Tough one due to the limited number of progeny that have gone jumping. He stayed 1m4f on the flat so probably two to two and a half if I had to guess.

Not much of a Journo if you skipped Dysart but asked about some of the other muck included :excitement:

Kevin Blake was the journalist who conducted the full day’s tour, for anyone who’s remotely interested.

To be honest, sometimes it’s worse when horses you like do get mentioned :excitement:

Willie up to his old tricks, placing all of us antepost punters in a barrel and telling us to piss in the corner. :excitement::excitement::excitement:

So is the RP stable tour out today or tomorrow? I seen somewhere that its out on monday but im not sure if thats when its out in the newspaper or online?

In tomorrow's paper so I imagine will be online to Members Club subscribers at 6pm ish tonight

Is it me or is everyone EXCEPT Willie convinced Ferny Hollow is going chasing and, ultimately, to the Arkle.... ??!

"Novice Chasing"???! He is surely above that.

I can't see Ferny going any where else other than the champion hurdle, he is the only horse if 100% that can give Honey a race. Its a race I'm sure CPS would love to win.

I would think most people assume he'll go to the Marsh and Appreciate the horse over 2miles as those 2 will be split. His PTP was over 2 4 at Knockanard , that course has a very stiff finish and he finished full of running so the distance shouldn't be an issue if they choose to step him up.
Given he has come from Colin Bowe's and the PTP background it makes sense to go that route if ultimately they see him as a CC or a GC horse (Willie already said he was bought with a view to being a Gold Cup horse someday)

I think Willie is just playing it down until they school him and see how he jumps first before fully committing as if you watch his PTP he wasn't fluent at all at his fences especially the 4th and 2nd last.

Its also a lot easier on the horse to go into Novice Chases rather than open company over hurdles after 1 run.

With Honeysuckle so dominant, I really cannot see anything getting close to her unless it's another high class mare who arrives to post with the same allowance. Step forward Echoes In Rain and Epatante.

I think Willie thinks Echoes In Rain is up to giving Honeysuckle a race:

ECHOES IN RAIN
I’m really looking forward to her. I’d imagine she’ll start in the Morgiana and has lots of gears. She is maturing with every run over hurdles and is a mare I think can go a long way up the ladder. It can be hard going from novice up to open company, but if one can over hurdles it might be her this season.

Honeysuckle is very good but she's not unbeatable

If something genuinely top class emerges

With more and more of the top novices going hurdling though its hard to see what beats her if she runs to form this year

I know what Willie said and according to ratings Echoes needs to improve approx.14 lbs. that's one hell of a improvement. Maybe she is 14lb better this year who knows but ask yourself this if Ferny was racing against Echoes tomorrow in a match who would you back?

I'd probably expect Ferny to beat Echoes right now as well, but the RP Stable Tour makes it pretty clear just how highly Willie rates Echoes:

"I think she has huge ability. She's her own worst enemy in terms of being eager to get on with things. We didn't campaign her on the Flat and we think she matured a lot last season, winning a Grade 1 at the Punchestown festival on her last start. If she can find the same level of maturing as she did last season, she could go the whole way to the top. She'll start off in the Morgiana Hurdle. If she's able to make that leap from novice to open company, she's certainly one who we could see competing at the top level come the spring."

Think we are all indebted to Sax for figuring out just how good her RPRs were before Punchestown and getting her covered at big prices as I don't think Willie thinks she will be those prices come March!

My take on Willie’s novice hurdlers:

He’ll definitely keep Kilcruit and Sir G apart and it seems like he'll start them off targeting the Supreme and Ballymore respectively. I think the the French horses, Hubrisko and State Man are likely to join the Supreme party along with Grangeclare West. Grangeclare West does not interest me over 2m (see my Presenting stat) but as CPS will want to split their horses, he’s the logical fit. Based on those that are more likely to be 2 milers, I can then see Dysart Dynamo moving up to the middle distance along with Sir G. That will then leave Classic Getaway for the AB to complete the CPS split. There are obviously a whole load more to fit in but these are the horses that interest me most.

I can see Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard both going to the Supreme.
Dysart Dynamo to the Ballymore.
Classic Getaway to Ballymore or AB, probably Ballymore if JWM and Hollow Games both turn up for some red hot potato action.

Who knows though?! Certainly not me.

Pretty much spot on to how I see it. CPS horses split up (especially now that Guily Billy didn’t impress these are the main three). And his best two which he knows are his best two in Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard will be kept apart.

Ramillies may be the only other main one to keep in mind for the AB with Classic Getaway

Dark Raven missing from my post but I’m not backing him for anything so skipped him. Ramillies is an AB candidate but I have my three backed for that and he did not feature in the shortlist. The AB looks like it could be a hot one this year if my predictions are correct.

I’ve not backed Kilcruit or Sir G either but that was due to prohibitive odds rather than ability.

True forgot about Dark Raven, though Willie has been very contradicting in both stable tours about him. The Sporting Life one saying he’s a stayer and then the RP saying he’s about pace. I’m the end I don’t think he’ll be top top end, probably just about Blue Lord level just missing out at the top level. He did say in the RP tour that he was surprised with him last season, so I get the impression he knows he’s got better
