Marsh Novices Chase 2020 (was JLT)

Its 3 miles isn't it?

Yep its over 3miles on Saturday. Ellison was undecided as to whether he would send him to Doncaster or Ascot (I think) the following Friday over 2f shorter but guess he's opted to go for this by recent support for him for Saturdays race.

Think I was one of the first to put him up for the JLT @ 50s but worried about him going RSA now and havent got him covered for that and think the RSA will end up a deeper race also. Interesting That Brian Hughes said he was only hacking away the last day and wasnt short of pace but then also said he was the best staying novice in the North along with SS

Mister Fisher and Champagne Platinum will run at Cheltenham over 2m4f this weekend with Angels Breath kept for Ascot the week after. Despite losing and Torpillo stinking up the form, I’m giving Mister Fisher another chance as he'll be fitter this time round and I think he’ll appreciate the step up from 2m.

Certainly seems the step up helped and I’m glad he went up the hill as I had reservations about that. As he didn’t come from the point field he should improve as the season goes on too.

Mister Fisher surely a contender now

Thought that was really nice from Mr Fisher, definitely a contender for this race now. Was disappointed with champagne platinum never looked to be jumping with any fluency but that was only his 5th start in a race. I thought Beakstown was given a tender ride from Harry, I think everyone has had him marked as a horse for handicaps for a while now.

QUOTES: MISTER FISHER was good, but that's not his ground - it's got a lot softer today. It's amazing how much experience counts and I think Champagne Platinum is good, but he took a lot of warming up. I think this is MISTER FISHER's trip and you might be working back from the JLT. He was a good hurdler and has grown a lot over the summer. He's a horse I've always loved. He'll be better on better ground - Nicky Henderson, trainer.

Windsor Avenue scoped dirty after the race today.. didnt jump with his usual fluency and went out like a light. Wouldn't be giving up on him yet thats for sure

Thats exactly what I thought Jackie, had worries too. Really seemed to benefit from the step up in trip, and wasnt sure he would do that either! Have cashed him out for the Arkle for a small profit. Not sure he's quite up to winning a JLT tbh, but has solid place chances and happy with the 50/1

Good Boy Bobby was giving away 5lb. Two nice prospects.

And Brewin’ beat GBB off level weights over 2m in a time quicker than standard.

Today reinforces Brewin’ chances, although I agree that MF should improve on better ground. The

I’m interested in others’ thoughts about where Henderson’s novice chasers end up? It’s beginning to look like they all are middle distance horses to be me, certainly as novices.

That would explain a bit jim, thank you. I think this is distance and not the 3m he went over yesterday

I was at Newcastle when he was beat by Ask Ben over 2m6. Awful ground that day, and he wasn't stopping over 2m6. Not saying he needs 3miles, but he definitely stays it.

Henderson said: "The last three weekends have all been good and we've got to keep going and make the most of it. We are missing what we think of as our A-team, but the subs are pretty good and we've got a really nice bunch of young horses.

"I was pleased with them all, of course, and I thought Mister Fisher was very good. He doesn't like that ground but won in spite of it. He's a quality horse and I love him."

"Things can change very quickly as a week ago we felt Angels Breath was a little flat, and then yesterday he was dancing all over the place and his work was excellent, so he'll now go to Ascot on Friday."

Angels Breath did that well in that ground, he was dismounted after the line and sounds like hes struck into himself, hopefully not too bad, but the vet is looking at him.

I'd be holding my breath if I'd backed Angels Breath. Sounds like it could be quite nasty

He was really impressive as well!

Any updates on Angels Breath? I topped up on him TWAR before today’s race so will be gutted if he’s injured himself badly as I’ve got 3 points on him.

Just read on twitter it could be an overreach so sorry still speculating
