J.L.T Novices Chase 2019

Think I mentioned this earlier but Nicky at our open day was pretty sure that he wouldn't have the pace for 2 miles at the top level and thought he would probably end up going further. Since then ive seen a few interviews where he has slightly contradicted himself and been keener on the Arkle, but personally Ill be sticking with JLT with him betting wise (had a small bet on Arkle at 33/1)

Duc des genievre?

A few months back when trying to figure who the Mullins runners could be (when it first appeared both Laurina and Melon would stay hurdling) he had some appeal for me with the Arkle / JLT in mind though as of yet still haven't heard any form of update on him or his wellbeing and others in the stable (Draconien) appear to be earmarked for this race now.

Looked to me like he'd benefit from going chasing and that would be where we'd see the best of him. However Noel Fehily says the horse would benefit from a step up in trip and he may well of run in the AB last season if it wasn't for the same connections having Fabulous Saga.

I'd actually be quite keen on seeing him over 2 miles again over fences having ran well over the minimum trip at the Dublin Festival but the JLT could also come into play. He disappointed slightly at the end of the season but ran with more than enough promise in his first 3 starts imo but he would appear to be well held if staying over hurdles.

On my radar though for novice chasing if they go down that route. The Mullins stable tour should be printed in the RP the week commencing 19th November so may get a snippet then about him...

Duc des genievre seems a little over hyped to me... always the 'dark horse' and has never really justified it.

Fences would need to improve him plenty for me to be interested (but of course that could very well happen).

This race is always one of the toughest ante post... some years the Arkle has a 'standout' which forces some horses upo, so perhaps I've been hasty in thinking Claimantakinforgan WILL go up in trip... but I'll pay my money and take my chance right now.

Yeah I think he's well held over hurdles now and wouldn't have much appeal anymore there. But over a fence and back at 2 miles i'd like to see at least. Was more a case of trying to spot a Mullins novice chaser for the season who could also be a big price (as he seems to be rather forgotten since the Spring)

Not Willie's way to go straight to a G1. Vautour and Douvan both started in a beginners towards the end of November and then went up to graded at Christmas.
For the Drinmore he likes a horse that started early.

Shocked by that, I would have thought that was the perfect race for Getabird. Also no Dortmund Park who I like for the JLT.

Dortmund park stays over hurdles

True, still though he has hinted that he'll try keep him right handed where possible, other than the Drinmore & the Durkan (probably come too soon also) there's not that much between here and Cheltenham. There is that race at Limerick at Christmas I suppose wonder if he'll give him a spin around Leopardstown.

Where did you see this Scoob, I was on hols last week and must have missed it.

He was debating it in the rp tour. Hes had 5 entries over hurdles since and none in chases.

I assumed that must have been it. I didn't see RP tour but had seen the hurdle entries.

If Black Op is included on shortlists (which he should be) then Lostintranslation has to be considered after the Aintree race. Lostintranslation had a strange season but ran his two best races at Cheltenham and Aintree. He was going well in the Supreme until hampered at the bottom of the hill and then went down by a neck to Black Op at Aintree over further. The step up in trip certainly seemed to help and he showed he could put up a fight going head to head on the run in with Black Op. He’s by Flemensfirth so chasing at two and half miles and further is what he’s bred for.

Lostintranslation entered up tomorrow and in at the deep end on debut. You won’t see many Beginners chases that are as competitive.

I think with a clear round la bague au roi makes all and wins. But impressive stuff if lost in translation beats her fair and square

Black Op no longer headed here, looks like Exeter

Yeah Tom George has rerouted him as the ground is too quick for him. If this weather keeps holding up he could be waiting a while or find a weaker event.

I certainly wouldn't be backing anything tomorrow

You'd imagine Thomas Campbell will have been trained alongside Santini, given basically under same ownership, so will be interesting to see how he gets on. Of course will have no bearing on Santini directly, but would take a small positive from a good showing alongside money being down already.

I wouldn't be to worried with Getabird missing out on the Drinmore. Its normally won by 3milers. Not a race for JLT winners
