J.L.T Novices Chase 2019

Backed Hardline for this. Might get taken off his feet in the Arkle but 65/1 was over. He's not flashy but he's honest and a very efficient jumper really like him.

I think you are right to have him for this over the Arkle. I like the VDR form lines as you know, and despite zero movement on VDR I have backed accordingly, however I may also get involved in Hardline should VDR not turn up.

VDR likes to get on with it and isn't the best jumper. Can't see him winning either race.

He's keen enough over 2m and his jumping is ropy. Would set it up nicely for Hardline will make ground at every fence, loves jumping fences.

Would be fun watching VDR v Knocknanuss in an Arkle :devilish:

If VDR ran in the Arkle, and CE lined up too then I'd say VDR was in there to give CE a pace to aim at, as you say, him and Knocknanuss would spoil each other ultimately.

VDR stays further no problem but he would need to settle better to win this. He's been on the go for quite a while now as well.

Yeah I agree about settling. Not so worried about how long he has been on the go, got a little break now, that's if he takes up his Irish Arkle entry, if not then straight to the festival, provided he actually turns up, anyway.

Apart from LTO where he was hassled in front, I wouldn't say his jumping is ropy at all. Very low attacking style.

Discussing Hardline and Voix Du Reve is like watching people fight over a bounty and a snickers in the leftover celebrations tubs.

Move on lads, they're both below grade 1 winning class this season :devilish:

Someone said the other day Bailey has been quoted as saying it's RSA or nothing for Vinndication. Can anyone verify that?

Snickers are straight out of the top drawer :devilish:

I heard one of the podcasts say this but haven't seen it in writing anywhere.

Whilst that may be tongue in cheek that is a soft comment to make, seeing as Hardline has won a Grade 1 already this season :triumphant: and VDR a Grade 2, beating Grade 1 winner, Hardline, in the process.

You do realise current JLT favourite, Lostintranslation has only won a Grade 2 so far this season, as has Vinndication.

Quite frankly this race is still very much up in the air, and could be won by any number of horses still, no solid standout, a bit like the Arkle I guess, but unlike the RSA.

Had a speculative one on Kildisart for this at 33-1 Sky nrnb, if it thins out like last year this horse's two runs so far haven't been bad and he may have met decent animals, probably end up in a handicap but worth tying up for me each way.
probably coffee cream for some. I'm sure.

Could be a shrewd shout that Quevega, Munir & Souede will want something in the race with the misfortunes of Master Dino :( & Messire Des Obeaux, don't know if they have many others they could go at for this, so he could be a decent shout.

Hardline has already won a grade 1. He is top class.

They also had carribean boy who's out for the season too.

Been a bit unlucky eh!

Can see Kildisart running a fair race with improvement expected and a fair price as pointed out by Quevega.

Haha yeah, I had the celebrations analogy in my head for ages and wanted an excuse to use it :p

My real thoughts on them both won't add much more than you've both discussed... I have missed the 'bigger' prices, and the prices they are now just seem fair, rather than standout. So for now I can look past them both

Yes, I was being silly - sorry

I heard that too (on FFP) but wasn't verified.... I haven't sen it written or from Kim Bailey - it'd be a big dent in my thought process if it's factual!
