J.L.T Novices Chase 2019

I hope he goes and win the Scilly Isles Chase. That'll shorten him up loads more as the "love train" gets into gear.
Big stat to break if he wins the Scilly Isles in the JLT.

I think taking him to Sandown is a good idea trends or no trends.

Learnt a lot from the interviews with GM about some of the differences and one of them was in regards to the colours of the boxes etc. At fences being different colours which I imagine takes quite some getting used to for an import. And also with the fences being taller than in France even with plenty of schooling it will be good for the horse to get (probably) the stiffest test of his jumping at Sandown, think it will set him up nicely

Im certainly not against trends, but some I just don't pay any attention to. Had Shattered Love not run in the JLT, Terrefort would have won the race comfortably. So him not winning didn't have anything to do with the fact he'd won the Scilly Isles.

Just that one better horse happened to take him on that day.

The last 3 winners have gone on to come 2nd, 2nd, 3rd in the JLT.

You know I don't like those trends very much, and we've had the debate before but can I at least get you to acknowledge that:

It is NOT a strong trend to say the horse cannot perform well in the JLT, as they clearly can.

After an enjoyable Christmas period of racing, I now come out the other side and am pinning my festival nap to Master Dino. I know I'm a sheep jumping on the hype train but I do firmly believe this horse will go to the very top.

Even though I am on at 16s (thanks to this lovely forum) I still think 9/2 is big.

What price does he go to after he romps in the Scilly Isles Chase? 2/1? a dominant bridal display could even push him in to 6/4.

Another factor is Guillaume Macaire coming over to the UK with him, this is a trainer that SOLD horses like Vautour, Laurina, Master Minded etc. He may have misjudged how good they were when selling them so young but surely it says something for him to keep Master Dino and come to try conquer Cheltenham himself?

Am I absolutely crazy to say we could be looking at a special horse?

????????????? but Terefort DIDNT win the JLT. Thats the whole point of a stat.

I don't think you are crazy to say we are looking at a special horse, not sure I could NAP him for the festival just yet though, one run over here against a fairly good horse but he has plenty more to prove before then. Like you, and many others, I too have some of the better prices and would not put anyone off 9/2 - 5/1 either.

Trainer thinks Master Dino is a much better horse.

Although Maccaire could be wrong ? and this years competition could be stronger ?
I think what you say is important as you can almost sense he was so encouraged how well Terrefort did that he's prepared to send Master Dino along the same route. He must be confident as he's experienced enough not to be messing about.

He said something like they are worlds apart in terms of ability. He thinks if Terrefort can go close this horse can win well especially in a what could be a weak renewal. You'd have to trust his judgement of a horse he knows more than all of us put together.

He did indeed say that Master Dino has more ability than Terrefort did at the same stage.

However, did he actually say “if Terrefort can go close this horse can win well especially in a what could be a weak renewal”?

Not his exact words but along those lines yes.

I don’t recall him saying that Master Dino will win the JLT well. I would say because he said Master Dino is better than Terrefort was, and Terrefort finished second last year, the assumption has been made that Master Dino will win as opposed to it being a quote.

More fuel for the hype train :highly_amused:

Official quote:

"Between the two of them there is no comparison," said Macaire. "We sold Terrefort to the Munir and Souede team and I think Master Dino should be able to better what he achieved."

Anyone think Klashnikov goes for this and if so what chance do we give him?....

iv got a free bet and might take a chance to cover him in this....

It wasn't a quote. I was giving my interpretation of what he said which is basically the same as your official quote. Master Dino is better and should be able to do better.

I think he'd have a better chance in this than the Arkle but it looks like Amy Murphy is still targeting the Arkle.

Think boopa watered it down. It's a certainty

Your first comment said “he thinks” and now it’s your interpretation.

I’m just being a nob to prove how these hype trains gather pace so quickly :highly_amused:

Ok I think he thinks he will piss up. :highly_amused:
