J.L.T Novices Chase 2019

Because I think it’s a terrible terrible division.

He only has to be half decent (and the right people believe he is) and he will be good enough to win the JLT. 7/2 favourite this time tomorrow.

Master Dino @ 16/1 e/w

He looked like the same self that dominated in France over hurdles.

Not a million miles off the 7/2 I predicted.

Skybet as NRNB have gone 8 5 4 3-1
probably decent money for that (guessing)

Interesting enough. I'd have maybe been tempted to have a bit more of a swing at 8/1 NRNB but obviously was behind the bangwagon there.

Judging by the reaction, everybody has either 16s 15s or 14s, so let's hope we get to the Sciliy Isles.

Before the Sciliy Isles last year, Terrefort was 20/1 NRNB and Cyrname was 25/1 NRNB - no chance the bookies will be generous aboutr the first two in the market for this years renrewal!

You'll never make an odds compiler - 6/1 is almost double :p

I had a point on at 16s. Thought about topping up this morning but was already into 12s so I left it. I think it was a fair performance, jumped well and found plenty. Was receiving 5lbs and the trip potentially stretching the second however. Happy with a position but too short now as a French hype horse.

Would still have Vinndication if he turns up here.

Aaaah...Vinndication versus Master Dino...the dream

Also head’s up to Boopa for sharing that Bromley target quote nice and early

Yep, yep, yep.

and let's hope Amy Murphy realises that big old boat she has in her yard needs to step up in trip too.

France’s multiple champion trainer told Sky Sports Racing: “The next step is Sandown, then the middle distance (JLT) at Cheltenham.

“In my opinion, the Arkle could be too fast for him. He used to be a bit keen at home, but I’ve worked a lot on relaxing him – so now he won’t understand if we ask him to do that.

“We’ve worked many months to have a horse able to manage his potential himself – so it would be silly to try to do the reverse.

“I will enter him anyway in the Arkle, but the target is the middle distance. That’s the logical (step).”

Whichever is Master Dino’s Cheltenham target, after his successful British debut in a race touted as one of the best in Plumpton’s history, he is sure to command huge respect.

Macaire is delighted his Grade One-winning hurdler adapted so well in a different country, after just one chase start in his homeland.

“I’m very pleased, because it was a test today – he doesn’t speak English, only French!” he added.

“He’s learning, but it’s the first time for him.

“The ground is rarely deep at Cheltenham, so this experience will be very useful – because he’s shown he’s able to follow a good pace but also has stamina.

“He stays, and was not tired at all after the race – which is a good sign.”

Winning jockey Jacob, the owners’ retained rider standing in for Master Dino’s injured regular James Reveley, had to get serious as Knocknanuss tried to pile on the pressure again at the end of the back straight.

But by the line, the winner’s superiority was very evident.

“Jamie Moore went very quick up front (on Knocknanuss) – (but) this is a good horse,” said Jacob.

“I just said to Guillaume and Anthony (Bromley) everything was against him today – track, the ground – it was all against him, and he still pulled up on top.

“That’s phase one over with now, and we can look forward to the Scilly Isles – which I think he will be much more suited to.

“The whole experience is what we wanted. He’s passed it.”

It's great to have such open, honest information to be able to use.

I don't believe any trainers or jockeys mislead, but the culture lends itself to being cautious and it takes away from the whole sport in my ever so humble opinion.

I am clearly missing something here and am failing to understand why everyone is going so overboard about Master Dino; he managed to beat a non-stayer (who is 20/1 for the Arkle) by 7 lengths in receipt of 5 pounds. We are all supposed to believe that 'everything (ground, course) was against him today' and that he will show his true quality at Sandown and Cheltenham. While that's entirely possible I have to believe that the dearth of quality in this race is making people overreact to any decent performance. If she turned up, in receipt of 7 pounds, then La Bague Au Roi ( not a horse i have a great affinity for - not sure why) would have much stronger claims in my opinion. We will see what the Scilly isles brings but 6/1 is way too short right now.

Something I’ve said before (about Mares in general) but all of LBR form is in receipt of 7lbs so “in receipt of 7lbs” is quite a moot point

Dino looked like he would improve with a bit further and we should see that at Sandown with a longer run in

A brilliant juvenile in France comes over here after winning his only chase start over there and beats a decent yardstick easily. He breeezed past Knockanauss today before putting the race to bed in the matter of strides. He looked like a high class horse today and based on what he did as their champion juvenile. The trainer believes he’s better than Terrefort who was second last year and we know the JLT is the target. He’s the definition of could be anything.

On all of that.. plus the fact it’s a poor division, suggests 6/1 is possibly still value. I definitely disagree with you that it’s too short. I’m very very tempted to top up my 16s at 6/1 in the next few days.

Agree with most of that except 3 things -
labelling the moore horse a non stayer is probably notfair,
and it's probably fair to say the french horse met vastly different conditions.
and It just looked different class didn't it ?

I agree with this. I still think 6/1 is value on all known form about the horse, and whilst I probably won't be going in anymore on him for singles I am happy to add him in to each way multi's from here on until at least Sandown.

Knocknanuss is a point winner with plenty stamina in the pedigree. Just got beat by a superior horse.

I think theres a slight difference, as myself and you can see the big picture as we know the horse. Where to some he might have just come out of the clouds as if that was his 1st run today. So I can understand it may seem to be hype.

Which it deffinately isn't. I know both of us added him to the markets and you backed him too, straight away upon entries.

For what it’s worth, I knew him from France too. Not that I watch much french racing but I do keep enough of an eye on it to know the ones to watch should they come over here. Today went as expected.

I don’t look at entries though so I wouldn’t have spotted his entry until you mentioned it last week. Upon which, I got stuck into him for the JLT.
