He’s unbeaten over 3m. Quietly confident we’ll see a more settled showing at Kempton now that the fizz is out of the system.

Provided the reigning Gold Cup champ stays fit and FTF goes Ryanair I can’t see a world where Willie doesn’t roll the dice in the Gold Cup. He’ll want another strong dart along with Galopin.
I assume Patrick will ride him ?

Mcmanus has never won a king George, surely he wants to send fact to file over to put that right ? 6/1 is current price

His price would suggest not

His form over 2m is 2112 so pretty sweet

As a novice his class seen him through. He looked so flat at 2m in open company last year.

He’s been back to his best since stepping up at Aintree last season. Would be utter madness to drop him back.

None on his favoured ground though. As I said, Deep ground and they'd consider it for sure. He'd have won 15 lengths at 2 today

Well with that opposition, probably right
He’s very versatile and ground could well play a part at times, but he’s better imo at further than 2m

Mullins said: "It was amazing. I asked both jockeys going out what they wanted to do and both said they wanted to be forward, and we didn't know whether something else wanted to make the running. But Paul said the minute the tape went up that Gaelic Warrior took it in his hands and he was just so exuberant over the first few fences.

"Then making that mistake at the fifth-last, I think, or sixth-last, you could see that his stride was shortening. Paul just sat, sat and tried to fill him up with air, and it paid off.

"Mark was there just stalking him and I thought it was all over. I couldn't really (believe Gaelic Warrior was able to get back up), it was an extraordinary race for two fantastic horses.

"It's lovely having a Champion Hurdle horse but having horses that can put in exhibitions of jumping and galloping and racing like that over fences is what jumps racing is all about I think.

"I love this race, I've always loved it and it's poignant too as I know all the Durkans. It's a very important race in the whole National Hunt calendar.

"I'd imagine I'll look to send one to Leopardstown (Savills Chase) and one to Kempton (King George), but we'll see how they recover out of that. They've had a tough enough race and I didn't expect that tough a race for them. But they were both fit and well coming here."

Galopin dependant obviously

Patrick’s been taking a lot less rides this season (thankfully)

Danny on all the yards runners at Cork today. Hopefully it stays that way
Willie sent Patrick on his travels , rode at Plumpton last week.

….JOB interview added to Stable tour thread.

….no details yet but the budget OBR report has been leaked and apparently a ‘tax on gambling’ is happening.

Horse racing is exempt from general betting duty tax rises in today's Budget, meaning it will remain at 15%.

General betting duty, paid on other forms of sports betting, will remain at 15% in betting shops - but from April 2027 will rise from 15% to 25% online.

Remote gaming duty, paid on online casino betting, will rise from 21% to 40% from April 2026.

I think that’s about as big a win as racing could have hoped for.
And hitting the firms who profit from crackhead wheel spinners should have happened long ago…

My knowledge on these kinds of topics is limited as I take very little interest in it, but just from the last few posts I read, is this actually a very good thing for people who bet on racing? Does the fact they will have to pay higher tax on casino betting mean that they may look to encourage more people to bet on racing, ie better prices/offers etc?

Gambling Commission needs to step up now and introduce some rules and regulations that mean bookmakers must allow punters to play to a reasonable level (minimum lay risk for every punter/account), and or have a minimum over round in any given market.

They fucking won't though will they ?

Whilst this news today looks like a win for racing (is a little bit) but the increase in taxes on other bookmaker income streams mean they will likely look to maximise profits elsewhere.

Before this announcement, and in order to maximise profit they have consistently put effort into restricting sports betting punters whilst simultaneously reducing offers and incentives including margins in betting markets (prices).

That would be the rose tinted outcome
