Was thinking the Durkin was going to be an anti climax half way through, but turned out to be an absolute classic. GW surprised me by digging in. Pleasure to watch
Agree, cracking finish, thought F2F, had him, great battling back from GW.

great race but was only really a match

As a king george backer im a little worried about how hard a race gaelic warrior just had tbh

He done the very same in his beginners at this meeting two years ago and followed up well in a good Faugheen at Limerick.

5 week break should be plenty to freshen him up again.

If he flops at Kempton they'll definitely use that excuse
He took his racing well last season winning at aintree and sandown but that was at the end of the season not the start

I am now tempted to add a stake saver on jango baie who i was very impressed with yesterday.

Something for me to mull over.

Yeah , you would think that’s fine, and hopefully for the race it is
He’s some horse to do that today imo
FTF is a serious horse
Shame their weren’t a 2 miler or two in the race, instead of the 3-4 milers having a day out

Fact to File wins that if Walsh is more patient like. Was a cracking battle between the two but others weren't put in the race as has been said.

Taken the 66s Lecky that's been highlighted on here. Think that's my first Gold Cup bet for 2026.

Much like the pertemps qualifier

Most of the field were non triers

Its why i dont like to bet on the irish races outside of the drf and punchestown
Were they non triers or were they just not able to lay up with the pace that was set. I think the notion the rest in behind weren’t trying is wide of the mark.

What pace were they expecting?
Absolute joke of a race without the two that can actually perform at the distance
The rest a day out with gold cups and grand nationals in mind
But we knew that before the race .

Any thoughts on whether Gaelic or f2f go king George ? Both of them ? Either of them ? None of them ?

They were none triers. We see these sorts of races in ireland all winter. Outside of the front two, heart wood was possibly the only other one trying to win. I'm not saying they could have beaten either of the front two if they did try, but no attempt was made by the majority of them. They're just horses having they're first run of the season over too short a trip, or coming off a lay off etc, so pretty much accepted they're faith from the off that they're not beating the top two and pointless having a hard race first time out if they're most likely not winning.

They were definitely looked after though once it became clear that the front 2 were bombing on

I think Gaelic has been pretty much committed
I’d be surprised if JP doesn’t also consider it, just from sporting pov

I think JP will very much fancy his chances in the Savills against a Galopin who 'is working back from the GC'

Those words said lately sounded like it will very much be steady steady with him and give him the 1 main target.

Yeah possibly
Although he’s also got others to slot in especially Iknowtheway
Depends how bothered he’d be about a runner in the King George
Fact to file seems the best suited IMO
