FJ Day One Festival Yankee - Manager Leman14

I expect they'll have one of the top amateurs booked, no ?

Champers on Ice 4 miler anyone ?

Firmly in the definitely maybe pile :)

Likely to be one from each of:
Supreme, Ultima, Champion Hurdle, 4-miler
(Close Brothers to replace Champion Hurdle, if no EW price that we fancy)

If that's the race he's in, I want him. I gotta a feeling

There has been mentions (and love) for Champers on Ice in this race, on this forum since the beginning of the season.
I am sure that I will not be on the only one with a slip at 25's (:)), but that won't stop me considering him heavily for the Yankee.

Tom Scuesday.... he is gonna win 3 out of those 4 ;) Moon Racer, Un Temp Port Touts, Champers On Ice :highly_amused: we all love a bet with a great pun for a name surely.

but what is he gonna ride in the supreme ;-)

Does anyone have a preference for what the overall aim is (other than winning!?!?)

An EW Yankee seems to be the preference, but if so, are we looking a 8/1 shots +, or would we be happy to have a 5/1 or 6/1 shot in there EW?

The weights and Jockey Bookings will help us to narrow down the fields for the H'Caps and the 4-Miler, but in the meantime, I'm trying to "unravel" the Supreme and the Champion Hurdle.

ie. Yanworth (put forward by Kevloaf) could be a little short for most peoples liking at 3's or 4's as an EW punt whilst Bunk Off Early is probably on the cusp of what would be acceptable.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think last year the rule was odds of 5/1+ for the e/w yankee.

Sounds sensible.
Thanks LR :)

Don't forget the e/w terms are 1/4 odds for all races.
Each to their own but I play e/w as insurance so I'll often play 5/2 shots e/w.
4 x 3/1 placed shots pays 49 points to a 22 point stake...

This is always my tactic Ista, I have short odds in e/way bets all the time, I guess sometimes it goes unnoticed that all these little placed prices add up eventually.

Now that the weights are out, feel free to shout your fancies for the Ultima and the Novice Chase :)

I'm quite sweet on Martello Tower in the Ultima BUT not sure if he will get in (40th ish on the list, max 24 to run)
Quite a number above have multiple entries, so it could well cut-up.

RIGHT

YANWORTH (barring injuries/defections etc...) is my pick for the Champion Hurdle and one leg of the Yankee.

They all have question marks, but if we are looking for a (minimum of) a top 3 finish - then I feel that he is the safest bet.
Neptune horses have a decent record in the race (better than Supreme?) and I can't have Brain Power, Moon Racer or even Limini (too many risks/questions)
By the Sunday night, MR and Limini could be declared (which could bump up Yanworth's price :))

As mentioned previously, I will probably avoid the Mares and the Arkle markets (as most value options will only be playing for a place) - so I still need your thoughts on Supreme (thinking Bunk Off Early), Ultima, 4-Miler (will wait for Jockeys) and the Novice Handicap.

Good point on Neptune vs Supreme record, might be different if it wasn't for the recent trend to send Supreme winners over fences straight away, I do like Bunk off Early in the Supreme though

Would struggle to put a solid claim in for anything in the Supreme, hence backing a couple in it rather than just the one.

The Ultima, I'd be quite inclined to agree with the initial thoughts of many on here about Mall Dini, assuming he runs, also has an entry for the Kim Muir too.

The 4 miler I'm currently leaning towards COI but as you have said the jockey bookings will be key to a decision.

Novice Handicap, as per page 4 of this thread I staked my claim for Squouateur, just hoping he turns up there now :)

Met too CorD, I think the Supreme is one to swerve for the yankee, so many unknowns and question marks.
I'd be looking for something in the last race, nov handicap chase, to go with the CH, 4 miler and Ultima...

It looks as though Ballyandy could be Supreme bound - so I would also strongly consider his chances.

Both COI and Squat are well and truly on the radar :encouragement:

If Mall Dini doesn't get in, I fancy Martello Tower (6lbs below Hurdle rating, has won at the fez etc..) in the Ultima
