You have the honour of being Day Three captain.
Keen to also get involved. I quite like how some have used the Yankee as a stepping stone to more involvement. Feel like I need that push.
Looking forward to it, enjoy it :)

The point of these yankee's, is for us all to back them for (min stakes is fine) so we have a collective yankee to support on Day One! With it being collective yankee, as much engagement as possible is encouraged.

Win only, each way, handicaps, shorties, no-hopers, popular horses, personal fancies, tips from the other yankees, cases made elsewhere, random guesses... all up to you .....Your decision will be final.

Final selection to be put up on Monday 15th March, by 15:00 please.

Day three usually the toughest, a chance to go down in FJ folklore PC...

Paisley Park day :cheerful:

PaisleyClegg's SO Excited about being picked as Day 3 Captain , he's Speechless !! :welcoming:.

Melon @ 10/1 NRNB for the Ryanair is IMO on of the best EW plays of the day.

With form figures of 2222 he doesn’t know how to not place at Cheltenham and the Ryanair is often won by the festival battle hardened, which he is big time. 3m has been stretching him so back down to 2m5f will be perfect. 4/8 of those currently ahead of him in the market almost certainly won’t go, and I’m fairly sure he’ll end up here and go off at least half the price, maybe even shorter once the rest are pulled.

I do think there’s merit in captains doing an EW ante post NRNB Yankee now to capitalise on decent prices, then one after final decks. No point when NRNB is in play discussing horses like this at 10/1 that subsequently go off a lot shorter right? Just pissing value away IMO

Good case Charlie.

In the same race, and for similar reasons, I'll put up SAMCRO as a potential selection.

He's ran in grade 1s at Cheltenham twice and won them both, beating :watermelon: in the process.

He's a spring horse (not sure this is true but it suits my arguement) and Gordy will have him in peak condition for the Ryanair.

20/1 is a great price in what looks an open race.

:highly_amused: We need more of this (not so much the spelling) but the honesty when blurting out racing tropes.

When I see people do it constantly I just think "you poor brainwashed fucker"

American sportsman collecting his MVP award......

"I just want to thank the lord jesus christ for allowing me to do this"

Team mates - "what about us mate ?, surely we had more to do with it ?"

Cheers pal. Makes sense. All captains could do a '30 days to go ante post yankee' deadline this Sunday (fuck all else for us to discuss this weekend), and then a main acca on the week of Cheltenham as planned. All that will happen otherwise is we'll get to the week of the fez and we'll be including Melon and Samcro at 9/2 and 5/1, and not 10 and 20!!

Yeah I'd agree with the above few posts, Melon, as pointed out by charlie & Samcro by FM, should both be under serious consideration.

Close enough form ties from last season at the festival, so deciding which will be a difficult choice.

Big enough difference in reliability between melon and Samcro though. Melon has already looked good this season, for an EW play I’d rather a run for my money. I like Melon as a selection but there’s also Fakir...
Allaho is an awful price.

Reliability leading up to the festival, yes, at the festival though and Samcro comes out on top with two wins from two runs. It is difficult to make a case for Samcro away from the festival in his current form though, I would agree.

Going to get expensive if we double up on the Yankee’s there’s already going to be 6 on the week of Cheltenham the bank balance can’t handle another 6 now. I’m not against doing another 1 like the monthly Yankee we normally do this weekend seeing as there’s no racing.

Thanks Gents, I feel very privileged to have been chosen.

I had a quick read back at last years yankee thread for inspiration and all it really shows is how difficult this is :biggrin-new:

The Thursday is the day i've attended most often and therefore I have a soft sport for it, helped by Paisley Park as well obviously.

Great to see discussion and well thought though suggestions already I am going to need all the help I can get. Kevloaf what are the rules on a double Yankee? (and there was me thinking that one might be a though ask)

I did have an idea that given my username and the popularity of the roll up thread we could make Paisley Park the anchor leg of the Yankee and try and have a decent 'roll up' running onto Paisley Park.

That would mean we are looking for
Marsh -
Pretemps -
Ryanair -
Stayers - Paisley Park

Just an idea.

The PP EA double wouldn't generate enough of a return to give us our money back so not sure how feasible this is.

Haha, I am blaming my one month old baby. I read the forum all times of day and night at the moment but haven't quite mastered the one handed typing yet.

Could try to find something in the without envoi market

Yep, I was thinking this. Do all bookies allow you to combine bets in the without market. Will all bookies have this market available before the deadline?

When you look through the card an EW antepost yankee looks very tasty.

Officially, only 1 yankee.... of course if you make two, people back both, but only 1 will go up in the official thread...

Each to their own I suppose. You do have the added advantage of not having to do it! :wink-new:

It obviously depends on the selections, but March Yankee's will generally yield a significantly lower return.

Just a suggestion.

Can you get lower than 0? These Yankee's don't have the best record :smile-new:

Good arguments on both sides, but if every Yankee Captain did 2 we would be flooded with them. One Yankee!

Lets get the suggestions flowing and we can decide if its Win or EW based on the quality of our ideas. Can you do a place Yankee?
