Fat Jockey Day Three Yankee - Captain: PaisleyClegg

I don't know if this is something we should be taking in to consideration but I have gone through the current Yankees to see how many are Thursday selections:
MARCH YANKEE
Paisley Park @ 8/1 - Stayers Hurdle (with CPS CC at 6/1)

APRIL YANKEE
Thyme Hill (Stayers) - 14/1 (with Monkfish RSA 10/1)

AUGUST YANKEE (Willie Mullins & E/W)
Melon - Ryanair @ 16/1 (with Monkfish - RSA 10/1)

NOVEMBER YANKEE
Fury Road - Stayers Hurdle @ 16/1
Gauloise - Mares Novice @ 10/1

JANUARY YANKEE (Handicaps)
The Bosses Oscar - Pertemps @ 7/1
Midnight Shadow - Brown Plate @ 20/1
School Boy Hours - Kim Muir @ 14/1

The January Yankee obviously has quite a bit of overlap.

Agree with all of this and put up a very shortened version of this case in the Ryanair thread. If he turns up then I actually think he could be excellent value as will likely go off the biggest price of Willie’s entries
 
Liking the look of TF , fits the bill quite nicely. The form at the distance looks good and his two weaker performances he got out paced and didn't stay.

He did get beaten by Samcro last year in the Marsh, is that a concern? Samcro was pulled up on his last run?
 
The biggest concern I have with TF is that his form going right handed is better than left handed. His 2 best runs this season were right handed (but also at this distance). Won his 2 bumpers right handed. Won his only novice hurdle right handed. Hammered by CPS and FD would be of more interest to me stepping up here and his Cheltenham form is better.
 
It can't be serious that Tornado Flyer is being considered :highly_amused:

For me Samcro is a better horse and a bigger price, Melon has only won 4 races out of 25.
Samcro has won 9 of his 17.

To be fair I've backed both, I like both, but when the one that wins (2x festival distance wins too!) is a bigger price, I think he's the better pick of the two.

One could counteract that with the form of both horses this season.

The Ryanair is well hard to name a placer.... Samcro's festival form of 11 is better than Melon's 2222 IMO though :watermelon:

Hook Up I like as a horse in the Mares Novice Hurdle as one good enough to be in the 3. Her additional experience and racing against the boys will be valuable when back in weaker company..... she's a solid place horse and will be a decent price with a decent win chance.

Totally agree re Hook up, but would not be surprised if punters latch onto her and the price shortens a fair bit by festival week

I can't believe Tornado Flyer made it on the list and Fakir D'Oudairies didn't :highly_amused:

If Tornado Flyer was trained by anyone else he'd have been drop kicked out of any conversation on the forum by now! :devilish:

Obviously means he's going to rock up and put in a personal best now of course :highly_amused:

How about imperial alcazar in the pertemps as an alternative to the bosses oscar
 
Also if you really want paisley park in I don’t see a problem with having him in twice as the March yankee is basically only a double now anyway

Even if one has been in a previous forum Yankee, such as Paisley Park, if it’s one that works well for this Yankee, there’s no harm at all in the horse being in twice.

I have full faith in you Captain in delivering us four winners
 
I would suggest the Storyteller in the Stayers :

Bar his 6th place Pertemps qualifyer and PU in the Galway Plate he hasn't been out of the first 2 since Oct 19.

Decent Festival form: 1st in Plate/PU in Ryanair/2nd in Pertemps

Has seemed like a different animal this year and has kept delivering despite generally being overlooked for not being top class. IMO will still be there battling it out at the end...
 
Having made the case for Gauloise in the main yankee, I feel bound to repeat it here.

I appreciate that several respected contributors are going for Hook Up but, even at the prices, I'm still inclined to Gauloise who is ahead of Hook Up on most measures.

- she is less experienced and possibly has more improvement in her.
- she has a marginally higher RPR after fewer runs.
- she finished closer to Royal Kahala.
- ran in the Solerina, presumably instead of Hook Up, so maybe a small indicator that she was the stable's first choice at that stage. The combination of trip and ground may well have been less suitable than what she will encounter at Cheltenham.

At 7/1 she is still a reasonable each way price and, if fit, seems certain to be a runner in this race.
 
Pertemps qualifier winners don’t have a great record in the final however I feel imperial alcazar is still on the upgrade and could well be graded class making him still well in here off 147 which is less weight than the bosses oscar will have to carry.
I think he’s a graded horse in a handicap.
