Close Bros Handicap Chase

Lough Derg Spirit got 7lb.
Now on 142, should be perfect to get in here now.
Decent chance.

Good initial shout CoD, in Lough Derg Spirit, can definitely see why you, Q and VF like him.

I've taken 22/1 boosted and 5 places with WH.

The target being confirmed and the new rating of 142 is enough for me to take the NRNB risk.

Cheers Kev, glad to hear he is right in that area of certainty to get in now. Hope all goes well for him now and will probably go back in on the boosted price for 5 places as you have noted :)

Not so clever with White Moon though, been dropped to 137 :grumpy: He'll be extremely lucky (highly unlikely) to get in off that, unless Tizzard can get another run in to him somehow!

Great news about LDS, He is my only bet in this race so far.

Presumably Glen Forsa is entered in the Kingmaker on Sat to get to within 6/8 lengths of Kalshnikov and go up to 140/141 to be sure of getting in this...

When I looked through the betting recently there were a lot of horses at the head of the market who are either too high or between 130-140. Unless some come out the wood work, it might not be such a tight handicap this year.

Yes I see that too Jackie, but I remember a Pipe horse (forget the name) that was ante post fav all Winter only to get a rating of 141 and not qualify.
This (below) is what Viking Flagship pulled together a few days ago and the history of this race tells us it's always a compressed handicap:

2018
OR range 137-145

2017
OR range 137-142 – the race was a 0-140 but Zamdy Man ran with a 2lb penalty for a win at the end of Feb.

2016
OR range 136-140

2015
OR range 134-140

2014
OR range 132-140

I think 137 may be ok this year even with decent ground.

think you may be right, there seems to be a smaller pool. I've been down the lists.
But there's a fair few novice handicaps this time of year and it may fill up a bit more.

Yeah still plenty of time for things to change. It could just be that the system had made it harder to position horses in the 140-145 band and some trainers have either over shot it or left themselves short.

Gutted about Glen Forsa deferring to the JLT, I didn’t see it coming and didn’t cash out in time on 2 bets I had involved with. Another rookie mistake :disgust:

Yes annoying switch up, impacted a few AP bets. But I must admit I really enjoyed seeing Glen Forsa putting the sword to Kalashnikov. I saw him at Kempton over Christmas and he didn't scream Arkle winner to me at the time.

I think everyone assumed he was getting a prep in for the handicap. By the time he was taking the field apart the cash out option was gone. Not much you could have done really.

I’m getting nervous about my DDS & LIT bets for the JLT now, I wasn’t expecting much competition to turn up at this stage, even the Irish raiders didn’t worry but Glen Forsa is a worry. Whoever got 40/1 for the JLT I salute you!!

I wouldn't worry at all personally.

think they'll run it in the arkle myself.

Is glen fora guaranteed to go to the JLT?.....I thought the Ankle was were they were going.

Owner keen on Arkle. Given how visually impressive he was why change what's not broken. I wonder if he was flattered as the runner up has always looked to want 2m4f and, arguably, the Supreme form is flawed.

Undefeated last 3 chases and bet
Jumps for fun , can only see as ew player either Arkle / JLT
He 40’s is good :-)
