Cheltenham Gold Cup 2020

Very nice performance and seems sure to prove best of the Brits. I'm still not completely convinced that he needs the extra 2 furlongs up the hill. There's not that much stamina on the dam's side. Either way, we won't know until March so you pays your money and takes your choice.
It will be interesting to see what the handicapper and Timeform make of the big two races today.

Lostintranslation looks to have catapulted himself into the clear fav for the Gold Cup now. He has the best jockey on him too, so he just needs the Tizzard stable to have a good Festival this season and all the ingredients are there.

Shame we'll not see it tested. But Defi du Seuil would surely be a player.
But I'll stop going on about it now.
They've made their bed.

At start of the season if you'd asked Hobbs & Geraghty. You only :devilish:need to beat Lostintranslation to win the gold cup.
They wouldn't have been messing around at 2 miles.

Exactly this Q. Strange by Hobbsy

wasnt Defi outstayed in the Dipper? :devilish:

dipper was quicker :p

wasn't though was it ?
slightly shorter trip, and slightly better ground and slightly less weight.
The 2 times they met over further on worse ground at level weights, what happened :p

it was if you take in the extra yardage etc. on racecourse evidence i'd expect LiT to outstay Defi beyond 2m 5f. obviously he may have improved plenty and it might have been a case of geraghty pushing the trigger to early that day

Lostintranslation was highly impressive even more so when you take into account that was his first ever run in open company grade 1.
He had nothing to justify being so short for the gold cup pre betfair chase but now he does have the form in the book.

Ballyoptic didnt run his race at all perhaps he needs it very soft to show his form. Frodon didnt look the same horse on debut and ran well below his best and probably wont reach the same heights as last season and Bristols best days are most likely now behind him.

With Lostintranslations best form coming at speed tracks and in small fields the big question is will he stay in a gold cup. Wont find that out in the King George so may not find out til the gold cup itself.

Questions to answer still for him but he has done extremely well to pass that test at that stage of his career.

Mr Tizzard could well have the front 2 in the betting for the gold cup in 6 days time.

Robbie Power thought he arrived there far too soon yesterday too. Held up a wee bit longer and I’ve no doubt he will get the extra distance in Gold Cup and is a worthy favourite at the minute.

He turned in swinging away on the snaff so agree, no doubt he will get the extra distance in Gold Cup. Exciting horse who will no doubt win more grade 1's.

Totally agree. Not much more to add here

Totally agree. that's twice now - OMG!!!

Totally agree - your actually on a roll lol.
Really think Kempton will suit him especially with Cyrname setting a good pace.
Gold Cup, well.... he'll have to be as talented whilst being just as versatile to then go on and win in March.
King George, all the way! Gold Cup... hmmmmm not so sure

It will be interesting to see his new rating. In the range 170 to 172?

I have backed Lost in Translation for the Gold cup , but i honestly thought he would .
struggle yesterday against B.D.M at Haydock.
Don't want to get too carried away , but his form is stacking up .
and it's not like he hasn't got any experience at Cheltenham is it.

His experience is only of going up the hill once. You can, of course, say the same about Kemboy (and it was said of many of the previous winners) but the truth is that until they've been up the hill twice, no-one can be sure that they can. As I said earlier, his pedigree isn't packed with stamina and his 3 mile form is on flat tracks. We're unlikely to get proof either way until March.

He's ran twice at cheltenham archie, slightly different results, but similar.

Thought it was a great performance by lostintranslation yesterday. Robbie power is firing in the winners of late, especially for Tizzard. He came there cruising 2 out and had he not hammered through the second last think it would have been a bit more cosy than the winning margin was, power had to go for him after that mistake. I know we won’t know until he runs in the gc but from what we have seen I don’t think I could be against him staying.
