Cheltenham 2020 - Ante post bets

Just a general question concerning samcro..everyone discussing potential cheltenham race targets for the horse.but does nobody potentially see the horse targeting the gold cup itself?and at what odds...lost a year last season..gigginstown have fair share of novice jumpers for novice races.and samcro year older than most novices.and oleary on the wind down..could just do a coneygree and maybe not win but at least line up in gold cup or am i being daft??has gigginstown any other gold cup horses for this year?
 
With reference to last post,forgot gigginstown also have delta work for gold cup but none apart from him..and we all know they not afraid to run there horses against each other in vig ones..im personally sweet on the outside thought of samcro targeting chelt gold cup tis sesaon
 
It's not the wildest suggestion ever Weldo... he isn't priced up anywhere though so even if you're right, at this stage you wouldn't get the benefit anyway.

You'd need well over 100/1 to tempt me at this stage... (as he needs to not only prove he's going to make a good novice chaser, he needs to prove he's still a grade 1 horse)

Reserve Tank

Colin Tizzard is leaning towards a novice chasing campaign with last season's dual Grade 1-winning hurdler Reserve Tank, with the expectation that he can excel over fences.

The five-year-old improved rapidly in the start of 2019, winning at Sandown and Kempton before highly impressive top-level victories at the Aintree and Punchestown festivals. He is currently 16-1 for the JLT at Cheltenham, while bookmakers price him at a general 14-1 shot if he was stepped down in distance for a tilt at the Arkle.

Tizzard said: "He improved massively last season but we have a decision to make as to whether we go novice chasing. Personally I would, but it is not a straightforward decision and we will talk about it.

"He is a good jumper and if we decide to go chasing he will start in the novice chase at Chepstow. We think he will make a top chaser."

Elixir De Nutz

Last season's Tolworth Hurdle winner Elixir De Nutz will stay over hurdles.
The five-year-old, who defeated Grand Sancy by half a length in Sandown's Grade 1, was found lame a week before his intended run in the Supreme at the Cheltenham Festival, but Tizzard is hoping he can make it back to the opening day of the Festival with the Champion Hurdle his main target, for which he is a 33-1 chance.

“We are going to try and make Elixir De Nutz into a Champion Hurdler and there is no reason why he can’t be," said the Dorset trainer. "He will need to go up a fair bit, but last year was his first proper season and he won three, including a Grade 1.

"We have given him a bit more time out in the field because he had a little injury. We want him in all of the big races in the spring, he will be out in December and we will look at some of the Champion Hurdle trials for him.”

Eldorado Allen

Another top hurdling prospect is Eldorado Allen, who made a big impression when winning at Sandown before suffering a season-ending injury at Aintree in a freak accident when brought down at the first.

“It was frightening how good he was at Sandown that day, said Tizzard. “He is rated 145 off the back of one run really. We will stay hurdling with him and he could be anything. He could be seriously well-handicapped, he is a beautiful horse."
 
Greatwood for Eldorado Allen perhaps?

I had Eldorado Allen added to the Arkle market on Bet365 waiting on news. Shame he’s staying hurdling but he'll still interest me for sure.

Definitely been on my radar , very impressive. I have got R.T in a nice multi. , but would be a good safety net to have.
backed in the r.s.a , especially at that price - cash out too.

Just a thought, but surely if you wanted to back Reserve Tank for the JLT you are better backing the 'any race' at a boosted 13.08/1 with Hills, as it's only 2.98pts difference to the top price and you have the cushion of the RSA as well?

Obviously it doesn't work so well for the RSA as there is a big gap in price!

On another note, with regards to Reserve Tank, I think Sams Profile is too big a price at 40's. He'll relish chasing, and the step up in trip I feel, and has close form ties with RT from Punchestown.
 
Interesting to hear about Eldorado Allen. Word was that he was rated higher than Elixir De Nutz last season, and they see EDN as a possible CH horse.

I can see Eldorado Allen ending up in the CH, even if he does start off handicapping. Tempted by the 66's, given EDN is half that price.

CH is an interesting angle, I did wonder if he does well in handicaps where would they aim him at the Festival. 75-1 boosted price with Hills is tempting. Tough ask though being so inexperienced so maybe one for e/w

Go back to the early noughties and lots of Champion Hurdle contenders took in an early season handicap en route to the festival. The Greatwood in particular was a very popular route for second season hurdlers.
 
Cashed out my speculative arkle bet on Eldorado.
Put it on champion hurdle at 66-1 b365. Worth a pop.
If he's well handicapped off 145 then he will not be far off the class needed, if Tizzard is right.
 
Paddy powers now priced samcro up at 66/1(70/1 with boost) for goldcup after i price requested him..

Good luck with that they’re a pain to deal with these days. I’ve asked for several horses adding to markets and told no as they’re unlikely to run

They have to be impartial with these requests, unfortunately what's happened in the past is well connected people have asked for horses to be added to race markets they won't run and offer enticing prices hoping to catch out a few mugs.
Beware of the unscrupulous...
 
I don’t see what the problem is betfair get their commission regardless. If mugs want to back a horse that isn’t likely to run that’s up to themselves, the bookies lay plenty every day that won’t run. However now betfair seem to play judge and jury on whether you can get a horse added or not. I’m not talking about massively ridiculous requests or anything either

Good point C.O.D , but i already backed the Tank for the j.l.t , And i already backed Sam's profile for the r.s.a @33-1.
