Cheltenham 2017 Antepost Bets

Skybet getting wise to using Altior or Douvan as price push doubles with other horses.
Tried to get Western Ryder up to 30/1 by doubling with Altior and was limited to £15, I can have what I like on the single at 20/1....

Betfair sportsbook wouldn't let you have £15 on it in my experience

Wouldn't know mayo, they closed me down a year ago as soon as my acc got back to somewhere near square !

I've had few ante post this year. My yankee has already gone down to a Trixie with Politologue going to the JLT from RSA , all done pre no runner no bet. Now I've got Meri Devie , Petit Mouchoir, and Cilaos Emery. All EW mind a decent odds.
I've done a double with Brain Power and Native River, again EW. Also Jezki EW. I think i'll have the Champion Hurdle sewn up :) , unless Jezki goes to the world hurdle but I got NRNB on that @ 14/1.

Has anyone seen any quotes on Vaniteux or know his intended target?

I saw he was priced up for the Grand Annual ... can't imagine he is good enough for the Ryanair or CC ?

Been given a £40 free bet from PP ... for being loyal apparently. :encouragement: Not bad from my 3rd choice bookie :highly_amused:

Do I tie up a race that I already have a good position in (for example, I could slap it at 9/2 on Native River in the GC) to leave me in a very solid position? Or do I get my creative juices flowing and put it on a big'un that I wouldn't do normally...

I've got until the 15th to decide ...

I'd couldn't advise what you should put it on Kev but make sure it is win only. An each way bet, with free bets, are a waste of time.

I'd probably use it for a multiple of some sort.

What about the Native River/Altior double today Kev?

I don't think Vaniteux is good enough to win the CC or RA, but he was the only horse to nearly get upside Douvan around the bend in last years Arkle. 50/1 nrnb looks well overpriced.

i have Ballyandy for the Neptune in so many multiples.:sorrow:

Yeah !, Me too Mayo,
Still , Nige might do a willy switcheroo ??????.

After last years antepost debacle i took a different approach this year by placing only 1 antepost bet which was Western Ryder for the Bumper and im so glad i did as i would have had Faugheen, Annie, Min and others that are out for the season and would have been way worse this year, but in saying that now that the NRNB insurance is there im now ready to get back into the pool and get my feet wet.

I have never seen so many stars out with injury as i have for this fez, its so disappointing from a viewing perspective.

Well I'm in kind of good shape in this race so far got Carter McKay at 25's and 20's and also got Western Ryder at 20's as well.

Going to back 2 in this. Already have Western Ryder, missed the boat on Carter at big prices but would he be worth backing at the price now

I wouldn't consider backing him at the price he is now. You'll probably get current prices on the day.

It's been a devastating season when you list out all the horses lost through fatality, injury and retirement this year. When I go through some of the races individually, Champion Hurdle no Annie/Faugheen, Gold Cup no Don Cossack/Coneygree, Champions Chase no Spriner vs Douvan etc it's hard not to be downbeat but I have to say I'm just as excited for this festival as any other!

Before both races go down to 6/7 runners and there's only 1 place to play for:

Charbel 14/1 (1/4) Arkle
Gods Own 20/1 (1/4) Champion Chase

0.5pt EW = 13.5pt to place

Guaranteed 3 places? Also must be worth a double in the w/o markets?

3 places, just i'm discounting the 1st as that's surely a formality hence 2 places now and will only be 1 place up for grabs on the day.

I did look to see a without Altior market in the Arkle but couldn't? see it?
