Apple's Jade is going to give Buveur D'air the chance to put in an almighty rating.

You couldn't wish for a better horse for him to aim at, if he cruise up to her then press the button and go past it'll be a wonder performance.

And if Laurina does them both, the greatest piece of training and best mare we'll have ever seen.

It's fascinating, when we played our little game about who would beat who over 2 miles I had them pretty close and I can't make my mind up.

Part of me thinks her running will show Buveur D'air to be an absolute champion.... then I think about how easily Apple's Jade would beat Verdana Blue and I end up looking at a different race :highly_amused:

It's a very tough call.
My head says Apple's Jade wins but I can't stop visualising the other two sat in behind turning in. And then it all goes blurry and shit.

This is where I'm at with the race:

Laurina 12/1
Apple's Jade 8/1 ew and 6/1 ew both NRNB
Sharjah 15/1 ew

No single on Buveur D'air but he's in a double with Benie Des Dieux and a double with Apple's Jade for me.

So obviously Buveur D'air will win and Laurina will win the Mares.

Agree - this might all set it up for BDA

Agreed. I'm sure even with AJ in the race they'll use him but Charli Parcs wasn't good enough to do this last year. He needs to be left as late as possible. Petit Mouchoir was able to do this job much better in the year prior. Samcro did if in the Fighting Fifth. The New One in the Aintree Hurdle. When he has been left at the front before this (2 out) in last years CH, against Verdana Blue he's vulnerable.

So AJ in the race in a strange way could give him the best possible chance of running to 100%. The big question will be whether he can then get past Apples Jade. I don't think he's a light touch (he battled against Melon last year) but Apples Jade will be another test altogether. I can see the pair pulling away from the rest of the field though (inc Laurina)

Going to be a fascinating race and well done to connections for going for it. I do think Apples Jade ideal is 2m4, and that Buveur is a better 2 miler, but AJ may just be a better horse overall anyway

Yes, by God she'd need to be a superstar wouldn't she.

My 12/1 is now implying thre is a one in twelve chance she's a better mare than Apple's Jade. I don't like those odds :highly_amused:

also notable ted walsh mad for AJ to run here

1. Suits Laurina
2. Leaves mares easier for Bdd

This is so true - not out of this

Hmmmm, he is though isn't he.

Melon isn't getting in front of Apple's Jade or Buveur D'air - place chance at very best IMO.

He's not even the stables number 1, and he doesn't know how to win.

I'd take 4/1 to place but the win part of the each way bet is just lost.

Can't be a good bet for anyone can he? Even with his festival record? 22?

Day of the race bet - festival form above all others imo

He Could easily go stayers hurdle. Nothing to lose giving it a try. He mentioned it after the race.

Who do you think will front run in the champion? For the life of me when decks come out I always thought Willie would have put Stormy Ireland (still think it’s a mistake not) for Laurina to pick it up. AJ will have to what she did today and lead.

Definitely AJ.

It suits Buveur to have her setting the pace anyway ...

Just read previous pages Apples Jade will do what I pictured a stormy Ireland would do to enhance Laurinas chances - what a race tho

Yea totally agree. The unknown is if Laurina can come off the pace better than him we’ve just never seen a jockey have to push the buttons on her yet which makes this a fascinating race

Do you not think that if AJ goes champion hurdle, as we now suspect, this increases the chance even more of Laurina going Mares ?

I'd prefer that, as I've got her covered there @ 40/1, thanks to a double with Harry in the Jungle :highly_amused:
