Champion Hurdle 2018

Only 2 winners of the Christmas Hurdle (Buveur D'air this season) have won the Champion Hurdle in the last 25 years! Faugheen did it once and almost certainly would have the year he got injured...

I can't believe how low that is!

Fortunately for Buveur D'air. he hits pretty much every other trend

Faugheen on the drift for the Irish Champion, Melon into 7/4 with Paddys. Bet365 still have Melon 11/4 and Defi at 7s, won't last long

Let's guess....

"Faugheen not pleasing us in his work"

So, Melon versus DDS?

Melon for me...

Price move might stem from this Mullins quote earlier today:

" I'm very happy with Faugheen. He has one or two tests to pass before this weekend, but I'm very pleased at this stage and both Melon and Faugheen will run in the Irish Champion Hurdle."

Doesn't sound as bad as it is being interpreted in places, or is this Mullins way of letting people down gently before he pulls him later in the week?

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Defi De Seuil has been absolutely smashed up in the last week in what is one of the biggest ante-post gambles of the season so far. One way of reading the shortening price of the Hobbs horse is a lack of confidence in Faugheen and Melon, which would cause havoc for Mullins backers come the Cheltenham Festival in March.”

So does this mean that DDS is looking good or something to do with the Mullins two or people just betting E/W as Faugheen could well be pulled out??..

It means "we're oddschecker, look at us"

Non story. Oddschecker gambles are even less relevant that bookmaker gambles that make the news. Absolutely no idea how they'd classify the asking if bets that get placed THROUGH their site conflated to people just looking and backing themselves AND perple who don't even look and back the horses anyway.

I'd imagine knowing DDS was going for the race made him a good each way bet regardless at the price he was. A JP horse veering gambled on isn't news either though

I stood by Melon all season not changing me mind now. I have him at 20/1 and 16/1 so going enjoy the race regardless. Have Buveur D'air in small trebles and Faugheen for March.

I have defi at 14s for the Irish champion as a saver for my CH bets. I do expect however that faugheen and melon run. And faugheen wins.

I just stick with what I have being backing since October regardless. Never change you mind.

New evidence? :p

If Melon gets beaten by Defi Du Seuil by 10L, you won't feel like a little switch in mindset?

Always be open to changing your mind I'd say :devilish:

Faugheen has been declared for Saturday :)

11/8 for the Irish Champion Hurdle, when was the last time he was odds against for a race that doesn't look particularly strong?

I can't get my head around Faugheen running.

I'd all but ruled him out of the festival, let alone him reappearing here.

If he runs, and wins - I will be overjoyed at the prospect of him and BVD facing off. I had given up all hope that the CH would be anything other than a walkover.

I have a hunch he only has "1 big day" left if him... so I still don't think he'll run this weekend... but I thought that pre Morgiana!

Would be great for all racing fans if he were to come out and hose up here! HOPEFULLY he's still got it

I'll be suprised if he dosent win.

Can't see him beating buveur dair though.

Anyone put any thought into the cashout option on buveur dair?
He wins tomorrow shortens up a little more. Cashout should get a little bigger.
However in the next couple of hours you've got yorkhill running who may switch back. And then the Irish champion hurdle. How much is he going to drift back out if/ when faugheen does the business. Or will he shorten up more in a different scenario?

I think the move could be to cash him out after the contenders. Then back him again after the Irish champion. But bog is there anyway.

But I'd be interested on opinions
