Arkle 2019

Even better experience then mayo!

Personally I dont think it matters a jot where the Arkle winner has run that season... had Footpad come over for this race at Sandown last year for example, I dont think it would have made any difference in the Arkle tbh.

Thought Kalahnikov jumped very well today. Very straight and fluent and certainly didn't look like a horse having only his second start over the bigger obstacles. Still have a feeling they might go a bit too quick for him on the day though.

Cilaos emery entered in the racing post novice chase.

Did anyone watch that race? Thoughts on whether he might end up in the JLT?

I was at Plumpton today bobby, I thought he jumped Very slickly , Apparently dragged his back legs at the water jump,
which the jockey said was because he took off a way in front of the jump.
yes , he didn't beat anything of note , But very impressive.
Can't think why he would step up in trip for now. Powered up the finish.

Cilaos emery entered in the racing post novice chase.

Good to see.

His others:

Bleu Berry
Real Steel
Voix Du Reve

narrow enough shortlist to work through :highly_amused:

I wanted to be find a fault with Kalashnikov today, but nothing to pick at. Better overall than his debut which is to be expected.

In my minds eye, he'd maintain a decent gallop over further, and I don't think he's going to have as much pace as others. He'd still not get my money ahead of Lalor HOWEVER that is perhaps rose-tinted glasses.

Getabird entered in 2 and a half mile Novice at Limerick on St Stephens Day.

Cilaos Emery available at 12-1 for Racing Post Novice - Mengli Khan 10-11 Fav. Voix De Reve 4-1

If he wins right handed at Limerick over that trip, they'll try him at the Dublin Racing Festival perhaps?

I think they'd give it a go left handed again in the JLT probably... if he doesn't perform then, they will know it's an issue and he's off the shortlist at Cheltenham.

A bit like Bellshill, who seems to have made his way back on :p

Your thinking miles ahead, very unlikely he'll run there 1st time out. Just a block entry.

Interesting that he hasn't an entry in the Racing post though, isn't it? Makes an Arkle campaign highly unlikely. Personally don't think he will go back to Prestbury after last year - just totally unsuited to the place. I see him more as a Punchestown 'Gordon Buster' horse myself. Just in case the Trainers title is close again.

Not massively interesting imo. They're not going to run in that 1st time up left handed against experiances horses. . Just as likely he goes arkle as anywhere else. But that's what 365 are for. He'll he likely be in a quiet 2m novice chase 1st time up imo.

Could well be entries for either or both getabird and cilaos emery this weekend. They both need a run before Christmas.

I can see him going to Limerick myself. Would be in keeping with what they've been saying.

'He will go novice chasing. We’ll start him off when he’s ready and I won’t worry too much about what trip that is over. We’ll assess him once he’s out and running, but I suspect he’ll end up in the mid-range or staying divisions. He seemed to show a preference for racing right-handed, so we might try to lean him that way if we can.'

Anyway - more importantly - do we take the 12-1 Cilaos Emery in the Racing Post, Scooby? If he's 20-1 for a race at the Festival, then surely 12-1 is value? Voix De Reve seems too short and Mengli Khan at odds on is just nuts. Also worth bearing in mind that Ruby side stepped VDR last time so could do likewise and take the ride on Cilaos.

Those quotes have changed since for getabird that was a long way back. (Pre draconien injury)

For CE
The entry is all i wanted for now. He needs a run and a win beforehand id have thought, to go there at christmas. (And he's priced accordingly) Same for getabird and his entry.
But with the season getting behind already who knows , not impossible he could go there 1st time up .

Each way I would hope he has a chance but will be tough first time up given some have already had a prep race this year

If he ran he'd win that no bother imo. Iv Never seen mullins put a novice chaser straight into a grade 1 though (and he's priced accordingly) could get a run very soon though

Mengli Khan should not be odds on against Voix Du Reve, not for what both have achieved over fences to date.

Hopefully CE/Getabird will be out soon enough, so VDR does not actually run in the race ;)

There's a nice 2m beginners at punchestown this weekend. Entries out later. Gives the perfect 3 week gap.
