2027 The Prices on Offer

…..KRG as low as 12-1 Arkle, 10-1 BANC.

Thought he showed a decent turn of foot round the bend. Didn’t exactly scream step up in trip on the run to the line after the last

Sober Glory 66/1 BANC with Flutter is a punt with having I think

He's not your stereotypical crack 2 miler. Whenever they’ve ridden him prominently this season to make use of his stamina he’s put his best form in the book.

Unfortunately with the UK programme as it is they’ll probably campaign him to avoid Old Park Star initially but they’ll probably test the waters at against something decent at some stage. If he’s beaten there’s only one other race they’ll be rerouting to.

Where do we see He's on Fire heading next year then? Up in trip or down in trip...

Selma De Vary 14/1 for Mares Hurdle. What the french experts saying on today's effort?

Not an expert, not by any stretch, but did have a look at previous Mullins winners of the race, the last one being Gala Marceau, who smashed Losange Bleu by 7 lengths, but she hasn't got her head in front since!

Footpad & Diakali both won the race too, neither done much that same season, though Footpad become a very good novice chaser the season after that.

Footpad became an absolute superstar novice chaser - didnt put a foot wrong on the way to his Arkle demolition job.

5 runs - 5 wins - and only once in those runs did any horse finish within 10 lengths of him.

That followed on from a season where he took his 4yo RPR of 146, and increased it to 162 (+16lbs) in the "difficult" 4yo to 5yo season - trying mostly 2M Grade 1's before one go at 3M at the seasons end.

162 would have won 2 of the last 3 Champion Hurdles these days :cautious:

Mares have it a bit easier, finding their way through from being juveniles, as they have the option to move solely around Mares company, and all the big Mares races being 2m4f helps too.

The geldings have just the 2m or 3m Grade 1 option, after being top Juveniles, and some now switch straight into Novice Chases as 4yos, rising 5yos, to avoid that fate.

If Lossie and BDA have gone from the Mares Hurdles scene, that leaves Wodhooh spearheading that scene - Jade back to fences?

Some of

* Zanoosh
* Mange Tout
* Selma De Vary
* Place de la Nation
* Air of Entitlement

Could enter that picture, even Golden Ace could move away from the Champion Hurdle, and have a go at the Mares Hurdle as she's 8yo rising 9yo next season, theres probably at most one season left in her on the track before they will want to breed from her.

Selma looks tailor-made for a Mares Hurdle programme, but if she gets put away until christmas-time and has a soft start to the new season she could even "do a Kargese or Air of Entitelement" and tip up well handicapped for a Festival run in one of those.

Personally I think shes already good enough at that young age, for a Mares Hurdle programme. Time will tell of course.

Selma......

Bloodstock agent Harold Kirk, who was representing the Mullins team in France was delighted with the performance saying: “She is a very very good filly, she could stay over hurdles or perhaps go chasing one day. One day she could become a Champion Hurdle mare.”

She does love to get her toe in so she'd need the ground to fall right for her to win at the Festival though IMO.

Mares Hurdle next year, champion Hurdle 28 sounds the plan... That's my reading of the above anyway :LOL:

Chasing if she turns out not that good...
