2026 Novice Hurdlers

Remember the other day how much KRG drifted on the day and then willie comes out and says he wasn't 100%

I liked him, not so sure now, highly tried with bumpers but never got that win.

He said something like KRG looked against the other two ‘like a mare in foal’ and that the other two looked pretty fit in comparison …..and that he thought there was a fair bit of improvement to come and implied he would beat the other two next time

Yeah, big drift on the day, comments that may back this up.

Travels very well in his races. Does he find much though. Maybe, maybe not.

Are we all convinced DS goes for the potato? I can imagine Townend will want him there but I suspect Willie would much prefer he go Turners…

Mighty Park rpr is worthless really
He seems a bit of an afterthought from both JP and Willie
Neither had much for the novice hurdles so it seems they abandoned plans to go in the bumper
Now they’re stuck with a badly prepared horse really
But he looks good either way
FWIW Willie / Paddy wanted him to go to a bumper, and JP overruled them. So I suspect this assessment isn't too far off the money.

On the grapevine anyway

They'll assess the homework and ground imo. But the softer the ground, the more chance he'd go Turners. Willie always wary of bottoming a horse like him out in the spud race. History from the Leopardstown race is basically 50/50 either race but worth noting the most impressive winners have always gone the Turners.

On Road To Cheltenham, Ruby said he'd discussed the target of Dr S with WPM and Ruby is of the opinion that the Albert Bartlett is the race for him. Heavy ground might change things, but it'd be big odds on he goes 3 miles imo.

The prices suggest as much but given its Ruby, I'll say he goes Turners now

I'll be watching Whiskey Yankee on Saturday at Haydock with interest. I think he took a big step forward at Ascot last time and this further step up in trip should suit his running style. Bits of 40/1 available for him for the Albert Bartlett.
Rubbish - jumped like a Skoda

I was very pleased to see bossman jack continue his education on Friday with a taking win at Chepstow.
Running over 2 miles, his hurdling was a bit fiddly early on but improved as the race went on.
He's been given an rpr of 142, and with the step up in trip and grade sure to bring about further improvement, I think this puts him right in the mix for the turners, his only festival entry, for last year's winning trainer.

Hills only trimmed him to 40s from 50s . How confident are you he’ll pitch up? Any concern at all at Starzands subsequent exploits?

I hope they'd let him take his chance, think he's earned it with his progression.
I wouldn't be concerned at all about starzands subsequent performances, he travelled all over him that day and if Harry had wanted to win the race earlier he could've with ease IMO.
I think it has always been a case of taking a steady campaign, with some educational rides and potentially moving onto bigger things this spring.

Think he won it cosier than the distance suggested, he just jumped the last slower, momentum leveled them then he pressed on.

Anyway, Ksar Fatal up next, so he's obviously going to blitz the field and be supplemented for the Supreme

Get the feeling John McConnnell wants to go Turners if he goes Cheltenham

Hope so, it's the only one i have backed him for. He has no chance in that Supreme. Could be a race for the ages with those 3 at the top of the market.
