2023 Stayers Hurdle

The question is whether he actually needs it soft or he just needed a stamina test all along

And the only times he's had that racing over 2 miles are in soft ground

Be interesting to see where he goes next

I'm very tempted by the 10s and see him as flooring porters biggest threat

His sire does have a good strike rate on decent ground, will have to have a closer look at his action using my very untrained eyes

Buzz back in pre training with Nicky and hope is he'll be back in full training by February.

Interesting to see Queens brook has an entry in the long walk hurdle next week, possible 3m christmas hurdle at leop too, could GE be pushing up in trip for crack at the stayers? Would need to improve a lot but not beyond the realms.

Yep, he's already said she'll be stepped up and get an entry in the Xmas hurdle.

Yup, interested in Queens Brook, one thats tough to get fit, so there could be some improvements in her if they are able to keep her going throughout the season. Plus the step up should suit
She's on my radar for that Long Walk and any double up for the fez

Not looking good for Blazing Khal...

“We’re not having a great run with Blazing Khal.

“It will be another three or four weeks before he’s out again, I’d say. Cheltenham is looking a small bit dodgy now.

“He needs to be out and running at Christmas really, to be realistically running at Cheltenham.

“We haven’t given up yet, but we are running a bit short of time for the Stayers’.”

Cheers for the heads up. Managed to cash a few bets with him in that I wasn’t to sure about anyway before the suspension of cash out :eagerness:

Proper stayer.:barbershop_quartet_member:

I'd written him off 2 years ago ...... brilliant horse.

Seriously can’t be having Bob O’linger tomorrow
henrys yard isn’t firing and I can’t see him staying the 3 miles

Looking at what could improve and place tomorrow at bigger odds

I wouldn't say Henry isn't firing. His best horses are running well and winning. He will have Bob as fit as he can for this as this will decide if he's a serious contender in this race or needs to be dropped in distance to see what he can do at 2m.

When asked if Bob would stay 3m, Henry referenced the Ballymore nigh on 2 years ago. There’s been a lot of water under the bridge since then …

In fairness... most of it over fences where he didnt look fluent, most of it he won casually, until he met an absolute freak a lot of us think will walk the gold Cup this year.

In that race he absolutely put Gaillard du Mesnil and Bravemasngame in the dust. I personally don't think it's outrageous to say if he can repeat that form back over smaller obstacles he'll take a lot of beating? Whether you believe it or not is the game, but for a trainer to point it out isn't that outlandish, non?

It’s not outrageous, no. But he was stopping in the race a few weeks back which strikes me as a better indicator. And that was over 2 and a half too.

I do actually fancy him tomorrow though.
