2023 Novice Hurdlers

Imagine someone coming in after a day out and checking the supreme market out ?
What a fucking messy division.

Said it before & I’ll say it again the 2m division is average & I’ve bashed Facile as much as anyone(price related mainly). Still anyone with a 140+ horse no excuse not to have a pop, Rare Edition/Chasing Fire etc.

7/1 in the enhanced WH section for Il Etait Temps for anyone interested (NRMB)

Il be waiting for the sky money back all losers and paddy money back free bet first 4 offers to roll in before playing again in the Supreme or ballymore

Unlike the novice chases that have somewhat solidified this weekend the novice hurdles have been blown wide open

And prices shouldnt change much between now and march

….Mullins; ‘we’ll probably have to write that race off (for FV). He’s not a machine & Paul rode him like a machine rather than a racehorse.’

Asked if FV will go to Chelt if well tomorrow; ‘oh yes, he’ll go to Chelt.’ Asked if FV & Il Etait will go Sup; ‘all our horses are well entered up’.

Question

what happens to the supreme market without facile Vega if he doesn’t run - is it just voided?

Very easy for people to start giving it the 'i knew he werent a superstar' etc. and all that rubbish.

Its clear to anyone who watches racing that theyve gone off like scalded cats, be interesting to see the timings.

2 seconds faster than champion hurdle earlier according to Brian Gleeson when interviewing Willie. Willie said he'd heard it was 3 seconds faster.

I haven't a clue about sectionals but even a poor judge like me could see High Def thought he was going for the Derby again

Watching that back something doesn't seem right with FV's ride, Townsend doesn't even try to go when IET goes imo. Will watch again. Could just be he'd run out of steam after belting away in the first half of the race or Willie wants better odds on FV at Chelts

I'm not sure many, if any, we're backing Facile for the Supreme at 4/6 - hopefully it was with B365 of they were - but he's surely a bet now at 7/2 NRNB. I've been against him all season because he's always been too short, but now he's too big with the obvious excuses from today.

No way they make that mistake again and he'll be dropped in.

Willie was fuming afterwards so it definitely isn't the latter!

Probably had willies words about Lossiemouth in his head - “the writing is on the wall, so why bother slapping him, could leave a mark for cheltenham”

Totally agreed Darlo. Totally 100%. As in, totally.

Let’s just see what surfaces in the next 2 hrs, the next 24 hrs, the next 3 days etc before we reserve our judgment on a) todays running, b) the Supreme market and c) Facile Vega not being, actually, any good.

We probably, in all honesty, don’t really know yet.

If everyone had watched this race today and said ‘Facile Vega’s well overrated’ were exactly the same punters who said in the same breath ‘ I knew Gentleman de Mee was an outstanding 2 mile Champion Chase contender’,with the the same evidence each horse has supplied us thus far, it would be zero punters.

In essence, let’s not overreact. Let’s not get busy on keyboards. There’s no less chance that Facile Vega isn’t an exceptional horse, any less than Gentleman De Mee is your next Champion Chase winner.

Here ya go.
Novices from jumping the first hurdle to race end a 4/5L up on the Irish champion. Circuit times within 2L,Novices are already around 18L ahead jumping the 4th hurdle and nearly 20L jumping the last on the far side(7th), from there Irish makes up 16L of which 7/8L is from the last. Tale of two races really, obvs gone too fast up front Vega but winner seen it out well enough off a searching pace. Irish not gone fast enough early doors which is evident by proximity of 4th(Piper) of 6L with all on the bridle until 2 out still IMO .Winner done well to put as much between rest as he has from 2 out and clearly wouldn't mind a better gallop.
