But chose not to Jackie, which felt like a change of plan and is what made me think they may have saved him for bumpers. Whilst it's not De Bromhead's usual MO, it is Cheveley's, and perhaps they thought of all three new recruits together and how best to avoid each other this season. The other two were sent to bumpers and weren't held back, and it all felt deliberate.

Given Cheveley are effectively out of the game and aren't buying any more horses for the jumps, Guily Billy being held back avoids clashes, and would give them one extra season in novice hurdles too.

Guily Billy was declared but pulled out injured (stone bruise) rather than any strategic decision.

The current bunch are not bumper horses though and were bought to be Gold Cup horses. Previously they’d bought types that could handle running in bumpers but Classic Getaway and Grangeclare West need to be jumping and over a trip.

Plenty of future Staying types have won the Bumper and Mullins has been known to bypass hurdles and throw one straight over fences having won the Bumper. Long time ago with Florida Pearl who won the following years RSA but he at least has history. That could be an option ? (He says, clutching at straws) :welcoming:

Guily Billy is a Coastal Path out of a Dom Alco Mare so should be sharp enough for bumpers at the moment you'd think. He'll certainly start down the bumper route, the trouble is HdB usually has a quiet bumper season with them or gets them over hurdles quickly. Given it's Cheveley with the success they've had going down this route, they may still aim him at the Champion Bumper though.

At the end of the day, as things stand, no one knows for sure what discipline or distance any of them will be going. It’s purely a hunch based on the entries and runs at the back end of last season that makes me think they’ll all be hurdling. At least, based on the publication, if they do hold one back it’s almost certain to be Billy.

I was umming and ahhing about adding him tonight but I am already quite exhausted from the exertions of the past few days. He's a French bumper horse so as I've not seen him quoted as going over hurdles, I will likely save him for another update. Am happy to have a look regardless at some point soon, but as I would be starting from scratch and am frankly spent for the day, it won't be this evening...

Adam Hills (prix de la horse) mentioned him by name in one of his pieces so he probably isn't total shit! He is available at 25/1 with Unibet as far as I can see but unless he's bred to be the next coming and only lost his bumper because he was literally running rings around the winner, that's a pretty crap price considering the strength of the current candidates.

Do you have any thoughts on the horse?

Only intended to have a glance but the more I looked, the more excited I got. Still reckon the 25/1 is stingy at this stage but he's a very intriguing recruit all the same...

Mikael Seror was the source of three juvenile hurdlers last season with two of them being winners. Siroco Jo won at Newbury in March for Paul Nicholls while Heross du Seuil made a winning debut at Kempton for Nicky Henderson. The latter's younger half-brother, Iberique du Seuil is another who started his career with Mikael Seror, although he has moved to Cullentra and is set to carry the colours of Noel and Valerie Moran. Iberique du Seuil had his sole outing in an AQPS flat race at Vichy over 2400 metres at the start of August. Held up fourth of six, he was shaken up to challenge two furlongs out but ran very green when coming under pressure. He soon found his rhythm however, and ran on strongly before being denied by a head at the line. Though it can not be said for certain, he probably would have won the race with the benefit of a few more strides. AQPS flat form used to be more difficult to assess, although the introduction of pattern contests in the sphere has been a useful addition to the program when it comes to evaluating form. This is especially pertinent when it comes to the Vichy contest as the first and third from that race subsequently filled same positions in reverse order in the Group III bumper at the same venue sixteen days later. While French bumper recruits are fairly rare arrivals at Gordon Elliott's, three of his five (Dakota Moirette, Dinaria des Obeaux and Toner d'Oudairies) managed to win as juveniles with each of them earning RPRs exceeding 126 in the process. Although Spanish Moon is capable of producing talented jumpers, he does not have the strongest of records with his juveniles. While dual scorer Grand Roi was one of his four to have raced in Britain and Ireland, his winner to runner rate with three-year-olds in France stands at just 10%. Nevertheless, being a half-brother to Heross du Seuil makes Iberique du Seuil a cousin of another former French bumper horse in 2017 Triumph Hurdle winner Defi du Seuil. Other notable relatives on the damline include the good handicap chaser Caramaran du Seuil (2/1), Reynoldstown winner Jimmy Tennis (3/1) and the versatile and talented Coo Star Sivola at 3/3. While French bumper form will be difficult to compare to the flat or hurdles form bought by other other prospective juvenile hurdlers, Iberique du Seuil would have the strongest credentials insofar as potential, breeding and connections are concerned. There is the possibility that Iberique du Seuil could be much better after his first campaign, but it will still be very interesting to see what he can do this season in the likely event he is sent straight over hurdles.

You can't diss a horse because one that he beat easily, bombs out in a future race.

Ther could be plenty of reasons why todays horse didn't run up to form.
