With Dan not regretting missing the "Neptune" because it had a "super impressive" winner, what chance he misses the Marsh if that same horse turns up?

Yes, maybe go to the Arkle, if he shows enough zip over his fences, if Bob O looms large in the Marsh.

He could i suppose, but he might dodge the "super impressive" Supreme winner. Or avoid the M.Pipe winner and the mighty Ahoy Senor in the BANC. I hope i'm wrong but the phrase we'll give Cheltenham a miss and save him for Liverpool may become a catchphrase for Dan.

Its all about getting him to the 2023 GC in one piece by the sound of it so they may take the easiest possible route in his Novice season before going for it in his Gold Cup year.

Anyone know how many horses have won the gold cup without having competed at a previous Cheltenham festival?

Coneygree in recent times.

But that was injury related, and a trainer that welcomed a battle, against the best, and binned a Novice Chase opportunity to run and win the Gold Cup instead.

Not some other well known, scaredy-pants British trainers, hiding their horses behind a curtain each March.

That's the equivalent of training for a tour of Helmand province by playing call of duty

Exactly this.

So stop being so wet Dan Skelton, check that you've grown a pair down below - then start acting like a grown up (not a scaredypants).

No point training at Alcester if your not running at the Cheltenham Festival with your top horses every year.

(Imagine how many runners him and PN would have at the Cheltenham Festival, if they trained somewhere much further out that took more effort to arrange and travel from - like IRELAND).

I have no idea what that means

In short - learning how to be an elite soldier in the military by playing a shoot'em up game on Playstation, which to be honest, by the shape of Dan these days - he might be doing a bit too much of :lemo:

Jodami and Imperial Call are the only other ones i can think of in addition to Coneygree

Going back, Midnight Court, Master Oats and my first Cheltenham festival.......The Thinker. Must be a few others and clearly more than any of us would have thought.

…might be wrong but I think the Thinker won in the snow and the meeting was abandoned. I was there too, got off to a great start with Observe winning the first with Francome on board at 16-1. Good memory.

I think what Black Dog mean's is you can't keep avoiding the opposition , waiting for the big day ..
Like football teams hoping to play lesser sides on the way to the cup final. ??.:applouse::tyrannosaurus:.

I was there that day. Meeting wasn't abandoned. They ran 3 races after the Gold Cup. Half Free with Scudamore up won the last. Bloody cold that day.

Wasn't abandoned, the GC was delayed for an hour until the snow thawed. Very weird day.
