Does anyone know anything re Gordon’s plans for Duffle Coat next term? Seems a chaser to me and the AB entry at this years fez perhaps points to the longer trip?

If Ferney hadn't got injured then AI probably would have gone Ballymore. Who were your other 3?

Minella indo in gold cup @ 14's, put the kettle on @ 14's and Monkfish @ 8's, both in any race and Ferny also any race @ 10's. Placed on April 18th with hills, back when you could put one from each any race section on your bets !
 
I don't know why I said ferny would probably have been against ai in the supreme, til ferny got injured i was expecting ai in the ballymore !

Cheers lobos. It's one of those where i was happy with a decent win but on the other hand gutted when i think how well appreciate it and bob olinger won !
 
No idea what the plan is for him but just chucked a small free bet at Monmiral for the arkle at 45s with paddy (power price)

Just in case he hacks up this week as he still has the could be anything tag, if he was to beat Adagio easily then he becomes very interesting.

wouldve backed him any race but Sky are only 9/1 which is an awful price.

Also had a go at Monmiral for the arkle at 40/1 with a free bet because if he wins this week the way the bookies are at the moment he’ll be probably be halved in price for next year, he’s also 50/1 for champion hurdle but not sure that will be the target , but this far out very hard to tell .

I also looked at any race on sky 9/1 but I agree is a terrible price .

looking back Nicholls said in January that the owners weren't interested in triumph because they care about chasing. based on that I think arkle/marsh are good options to cover. not sure you could rule out of either as looks to finish races strongly at 2m 1f
 
Having seen the Irish novice hurdlers who are rumoured to be going chasing can anyone make a strong case for any UK based novice chaser for next season ?
My Drogo may be the exception but the rule surely says focus on the Irish...

Certainly agree with that Ista.

Add in stay clear of Nicholls imo too as they may swerve for easier tasks.

He’d have to win well for me to even think about parting with cash for a Cheltenham bet in 2022.

trouble is a lot of the Irish are already short for a year out and if monmiral beats adagio then I think is an interesting one for next year....quilixious was impressive but is wasnt like adagio was out of sight.

as long a list as it gets.

Obviously get a line on these at Aintree this week.
 
He will probably fall just below the top grade 1's but I'd be really excited for Boothill.

Dusart would be close to top of my list if they go over fences

I wouldn't usually have the juveniles on my mind too much when considering the following year's novice chasers. It's a big ask for them to go to the top of the tree over fences as 5 year olds. I suppose Fakir nearly did it in last year's Arkle - any other recent examples?

Possibly, but Nicholls and many in the UK made Bravemansgame a cross between Arkle and Big Bucks and he got smashed.

Everyone will have their own view but there has been a very strong trend in recent years towards Irish horses, this isn’t going to be reversed any time soon, there will need to be a fundamental change to the entire way UK racing (NH) is structured for that to happen, so my starting point for 21/22 has to be Irish....
 
Dusart & My Drogo are they only two British horses I’ve backed for novice chases next season, and I’d be surprised if I added to that. Would take a pretty dramatic performance.

Saint Calvados ruined his chance. Same sire.

Nicholls does well with these types though.
And the sire appears to get decent chasers who do particularly well in their early years.

I think if Monmiral can win this week, and win well, then he is a lively one for the arkle, especially on looks.
He'd be close to the best juvenile depending how well he runs Thursday.

Yeh, I agree with most of the above but the only UK trainer I'll strongly be looking at is NJH.

For all he winds me up by not running his horses, he did land two of the four novice chases this year so he can't be discounted, imo.
